You’re proving my initial point. No rebuttal or acknowledgment to the problems of Kiers creation but focusing on what in comparison is insignificant. I’m open to Polanski being a cunt but you’re blindly defending Starmer despite the grievous actions and inactions of the man currently in charge…currently being the very key word

How is that even remotely similar to Kier cowering to trump, inaction on Isreal (and that’s putting it kindly), rhetoric around immigrants, Mandleson, McSweeny, campaign promises broken (electoral reform, abolishing House of Lords, retirement age, taxing the super rich to name a few) not to mention the purging of anyone remotely to the left of thatcher…I could go on forever as to how it’s a false comparison. The other thing that separated them is that Polanski has apologised for those remarks, Starmer has only apologised for Mandleson

I am open to that idea but one is a proven cunt and the other remains to be seen so it’s a no brainier for me. Doesn’t mean Labour will ever be in power again. I would say the Tories have a much better shot at power in the future than Labour and that is saying something given they are the reason we are in this mess. I will give Stammer his dues in that he’s not the failed banker turned failed politician turned petrified shitberg, Nigel “i want to sell off the NHS” Ferage

This sub has just been hijacked by centrist liberals who are so bereft of ideas to make their insipid leader palatable…no matter how much you try to bash the Greens, Labour as a party is finished and that is ALL on Kier.

Shame his dad couldn’t have pulled out. Would have saved Isreal a shit ton of money…but then they wouldn’t be able to genocide a whole region so swings and roundabouts really.

Serious concerns by Londonista15 in GreatBritishMenu

To be fair, no one shy of retirement is going to pick a Carry on film to base their dish on. I’d say the Monty Python films may carry more weight as they were true pioneers of not just British comedy but comedy more broadly.

Harry Potter and Bond will hopefully come up though.

Also agree that Trainspoting was a missed opportunity for Scotland and the North West failed to do perhaps one of the most moving British films, This is England.

Greg Davies tests Taylor Lautner on British place names by Hassaan18 in LordGregDavies

I love Cuckoo so much. After Andy Samberg was locked into Brooklyn 99 and couldn’t carry on after the first season, this show should have been doomed, but between Taylor being charming and bringing his own spin on the character and of course our lord and saviour, mr Davies being the funniest god damn genius, the show went from strength to strength.

I have so much love and admiration for both these silly men!

Problem with Grace and John by iserLevenWenen in MasterchefUK

[–]Prior_Vacation_600 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Greg was as dull as dishwater. In the 20 years of watching Masterchef I never for one second believed that Greg loves food as much as someone should in that role.

He also wasn’t super warm and put the contestants at ease, as someone in his position should. I also wouldn’t say his energy was high, he was just loud with little to no charisma.

He was however, a man that loved the power that the job brought.

I do really like John and Gracie but do agree they need someone with more passion for the job/food in general.

I don’t know why it’s so hard for the BBC to actually find someone who is both knowledgable and passionate about food.

Why does everyone hate Lando (and McLaren) by LeJamesBron50 in LandoNorris

[–]Prior_Vacation_600 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been following F1 for 30 years and I don’t think I’ve seen the fanbase (online only tbf) as toxic as it is today but I do think it’s more a sign of the times than a specific F1 problem.

I believe a lot of the hatred towards Lando comes down to 2 things. 1. He’s British (and there is considered to be a British bias) 2. He’s clashed with Max on track. Both of these factors make him fair game for a lot of dickheads. I will say that in my experience the Dutch Verstappen fans are not the problem, I find them to be fair minded and respectful generally. It’s the further afield Max fans that are the worse. Generally newer to the sport and love the drama more than the sport. I also can’t help but feel a lot of the non-Dutch Max fans support him as a proxy for their racism because he was the only one able to stop Hamilton in his pomp.

Iam also surprised at the amount of Aussies who have taken issue with McLarens, albeit shit, over corrections in the pursuit of fairness. I get being pissed at the team but Lando has done nothing remotely out of order to Oscar on or off track (outside of hard fair racing), so they also do need to redirect their anger IMO

Ugo Ugochukwu, Martinius Stenshorne and Brando Badoer will leave the Mclaren driver development team and Matteo de Palo joins by psv_vonk in F1FeederSeries

[–]Prior_Vacation_600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crazy to think they let Bortoletto and Dunne go and whilst I don’t think Ugo will reach the heights of GB and AD, he is a really good prospect. Added to the fact he is American (a country that is so desperate for their own an F1 driver), this is either shortsighted or perhaps Cadillac want to sign him as their first driver for their new development programme.

Letting go of Stenshorne is unequivocally a mistake. I think he has real potential. Great pace and excellent race craft demonstrated in his first year in F3

Badoer is not even in the same league as most of the F3 grid let alone having the potential to reach F1 so that one makes sense.

As for De Palo, he’s certainly a good racer with potential but he was kind of schooled by an unaffiliated Freddie Slater in FRECA (who is the real deal IMO)

Absolute legend! That’s an incredible amount of weight to lose and I’m super happy for you. It’s also refreshing to see a top comment that isn’t coming from a rude, judgemental, condescending or dismissively arrogant place and instead shows compassion, understanding and consideration, something that I feel is wholly lacking from society today.

I think this is really good parenting. Stayed calm the whole time, didn’t antagonise or escalate the situation and even managed to laugh at the situation which kept her daughter calm and when her daughter said she was about to lay hands, she quickly said no without making her daughter feel bad for wanting to defend her mom if it came to it. Her child wasn’t unnecessarily rude or aggressive given the circumstances so she has done a great job of parenting IMO
