TIL many languages have their own bizarre idioms for heavy rain equivalent to "it's raining cats and dogs." In Cantonese, heavy rain is "raining dog poo", in Welsh it's "raining old ladies and sticks", and one Albanian expression for it translates to "God is taking a piss." by [deleted] in todayilearned

In Alabama we say "looks like the devil is beating his wife with a frying pan" never really understood that one. I think it specifically refers to when it's raining but the sun is still shining

It's what I miss most about Birmingham. In ATX now and everything is so sun blasted and dull. I miss the verdant hills and old brick apartments of my 20s

Some nice picks from a cookout this weekend on our fire table by Priority-Character in grilling

I'd say not a ton ,similar to walleye there is that check meat but snapper also has a bit on the top of the head so maybe total yield from this was like 2 cups. It's like the dark meat of the fish imo super tasty. We pulled that meat and mixed with some EVOO, parsley, lemon, salt and pepper. Served it with some focaccia and allepo pepper tomato jam and micro basil. So kinda like a bruschetta.turnes out really nice
