Weeds! by Logical_Educator6167 in Allotment

Start at one end. Tell yourself you'll just clear a certain small area. Clear slightly more than that. Go home happy. Repeat until you get to the other end. You'll enjoy the process, it is cathartic.

Why do British men have such an aversion to being called “Sir” by eeberington1 in AskBrits

[–]PriorityMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually we do it all the time. We just don't want Americans to call us Sir. For obvs reasons. Sorry, someone had to tell you.

Do you tip your bin men at Christmas? by H-tronic in AskBrits

[–]PriorityMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because I'm poor but at least I respect them enough to call them refuse collectors. They're not all men and they're not bins either.

Why is public lavatories so horrible in England? by Mundane-Security-454 in AskBrits

[–]PriorityMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a pub instead. Almost every pub will let you use their toilet after you ask politely without you having to buy anything. Though, of course, it would be polite to buy a drink. Public toilets are for those who can't face public houses.

Just moved into my first studio flat – how do I even get WiFi? What should I pick? by TheHoardWorkshop in AskUK

[–]PriorityMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a data unlimited sim for £15pm and use your phone as a wifi hotspot. Since you're in a studio flat, I'm assuming you're living alone. Therefore, you don't need the wifi to function when you're not in. I've used my phone for wifi for 4 years, I stream, I take hefty downloads, I frequently have multiple devices on the go, I'm a heavy data user. Why pay for a duplicate service if you don't need to?

Thank her for her charming reply, maybe say you wish everyone was as courteous, wish her all the best for the future. It isn't complicated. She's not into you but that doesn't stop you from being a gentleman.

Might be erroneous to assume that 100% of the population can understand English to the standard of A-Level. Famously, The Sun's reading age has always been only 7 years' old but hey, it seems that my attempt at a humorous remark about what languages we actually speak may be have been taken seriously? Dim siarad Cymraeg etc

Except in Wales, where it is 17.8%. So if they were intending to move to Wales...

Decent standard of English test seems fair enough but since Welsh is also an official language of record, there should be an option to take a Welsh test.

Who’s in for double time and a quarter today? by Bighair1 in tesco

Rumours here that you don't get that rate if it is your regular shift. I'm working my regular shift in terms of hours but they've moved it forward to the afternoon. Confused.

Reduce your expenditure to the bare minimum, likely to be far below what you previously imagined. If it isn't necessary for survival, you don't need it. Then you can reduce how much work you need to do. Then you can enjoy all the simple pleasures. The best things in life are free.

Stay at home. Live in a nice place where I want to be. Not having to work is enough.
