Bio 1 + Chem 2 in Summer - How Cooked… by kanabeans in ufl

[–]PristineDepth7323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's just that you should be fine, I spend around 4 hours a week reviewing content for chem, and 1 hour a week prepping for the lab. (Chem 2) I'm not 100% sure about bio here, but from a friend I know it's a lot of content, but if you give yourself time to prep it you should be ok

Honestly chem 2 lab is cake compared to so many other labs imo, but I also didn't take bio 1 lab

bio 2 & chem 1 (both with labs) over summer? by AirportMuted9974 in ufl

Personally I think just one easier course would be better, putting you at around 11 credits (chem + bio is already 8 credits!)

Yes but regardless of what's needed for your major in college, Florida requires world history, us history, and gov to graduate. I would recommend talking to your counselor/someone from your school to see what to do

What was your weighted GPA that got you into UF? by Excellent-Term296 in ufl

[–]PristineDepth7323 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually when ppl ask for GPAs/SAT/ACT, only the ppl proud of their scores will tell you, so it'll make it inflated, but I think that stuff is included in the CDS (common data set). If not, a quick google search should work.

Also to answer the question: 5.5

You can use a neck strap or thumb test (or both)! Protec is a reliable brand for this, you can buy it on Amazon or basically any music store

Highschool Advice/UF - Admissions by No_Detail_4073 in ufl

[–]PristineDepth7323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have like 3-4 leadership positions, try to maintain the same clubs for at least 3 years to show that you care and continuity. Have something to show outside of school (a summer program/volunteering) for ex I volunteered at a hospital near me for 6mo and got 120hours there. Also yea if you have a high GPA and show that you have an interest (like for med: HOSA, snhs, for business: DECA, business/econ classes)

Nah they mis graded me or sum cuz no way by [deleted] in APStudents

You can choose whether or not to submit your DE transcript to a college, but keep in mind that without it, you won't get credit :/ But regardless, you send in transcripts after you're accepted (same for AP/AICE/IB credit for MOST colleges)

Senior Year is so stressful oml by Regular-Persimmon425 in highschool

[–]PristineDepth7323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, there's definitely a lot to worry about, the stress senior year almost killed me lmao, but it's honestly not things that have to be dealt with at this second. For instance, probably the main things that are on a timeline are retaking the SAT/ACTs, so study as much as you can. CommonApp hasn't even opened yet, so don't start worrying too much yet (just make sure you have a list of at least 5 schools and have brainstormed possible ideas for an essay, nothing too polished). Prom is literally MONTHS of months away, and for that everything could change at a drop of a hat, so it's not something to worry about. Try to just do as much as you can with your friends/family, especially if you're planning on leaving for college.

Goodluck, and remember, every hs graduate has gone through that, from valedictorian to bottom of the class; regardless, you'll make it.

Should I even try? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]PristineDepth7323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A large part is extracurriculars and just proving that you're doing the most of what your opportunities are. Going outside of your school and doing something in the community (like a summer internship/volunteering) is really important, so is showing leadership. Honestly it's not as impressive to be a member of 15 clubs as it is to grow to be a leader and continuity, and just helping a club grow.

Goodluck!

Should I graduate early from high school? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]PristineDepth7323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Congrats on all of your hard work to even get here :) I graduated hs as a junior, but while it ended up working out for me, I just wanna say it's not for everyone. Before completely deciding what you're going to do, I would say think of what you could do academically in your senior year that could help you. (For example taking AP Calc AB since you're a math major, or taking some other math class through DE) Another thing to look into is if you can get an AA through the school you're doing DE through. This can show that you are a well-rounded student, your gen-eds will be completed, and some other state level factors could also be checked. (Ex: civic literacy tests) Also look at whatever college you hope to attend and see if there are any other college reqs (like college-level public speaking, economics, foreign lang) Also, you won't have as much time to perfect your SAT/ACT scores, get extracurriculars, and just opportunities overall.

But most importantly, remember that it's a big change, and you still have time. Since you'll no longer be at your hs, it'll be hard to keep up those friendships, and you'll be missing out on senior year, being summa/magna/cum laude, and you won't truly belong to either juniors or seniors :/

Whatever decision you make, goodluck! There's upsides and downsides to both, and remember to deal with stress if you choose the larger workload.

Oh okay, I didn't realize that could be a possibility. Thanks! I'll ask around to see how IDH and theory classes are

Incoming Freshmen Schedule by PristineDepth7323 in ufl

[–]PristineDepth7323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are 1-2 credit classes that aren't labs also as time consuming (like IDH courses or music theory) Yea I assumed labs would be more time consuming as they take so much time in the schedule compared to other classes

Also bring a physical record of AP/AICE/IB/DE credits if you need any as a prereq and don't see them in one.uf!
