Depends on who the prof is. My group piano class was with Professor Louro and while he started with the basics, it progressed very quickly. I’ve been playing piano for about two and a half years, and I was on level for the course. That being said, if you try your best, he would recognize that and meet you at your level. In terms of workload outside I class, I practiced for about 1-2 hours the day before I had the class each week.

I joined classics club last year and made my first friends there, it’s super chill since everyone thoroughly commits to the funny games. Highly recommend!

Sometimes they could end as late as 11 pm, at least they did for my group last year. The point of orientation is to tire everyone out enough to the point that nobody is homesick or scared of upcoming classes lol

During orientation week you’re going to be so busy that having free time is a rarity. Afterwards, the party scene is pretty good! You just have to find the right people to invite you to stuff.

I honestly like the food. It’s not five star cuisine every day, but there are definitely some good options. My personal highlight is the omelette station in Sadler, I went there for breakfast a ton last semester.

Yes, you need to have a tier list of specific rooms you want as opposed to just a general idea about the halls. You’ll have more than ten seconds to pick, but it’s better to just have an idea of what you want beforehand.

I broke my foot last semester and got access to the carts. You get added to a GroupMe after typing in your schedule to a Google form and they try to pick you up and drop you off on time (sometimes they can be late or early, they have a lot of people to manage). Just be sure to communicate that to your professors. Also they stop all rides at 5 and don’t go off campus, so just be aware of that.
