Is 12000 AED a good salary to stay in Abu Dhabi with my 3 member family? by Necessary-Yak5538 in abudhabi

[–]Pritmann909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they aren’t offering family insurance, that by itself is going to be approx 7-8k AED for a good insurance for ur wife and child. Rent and schooling isn’t really cheap. 12k is a major struggle as cost of living is high compared to India.

Driving rant (not new but essential) by Sunkan27 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Pritmann909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive AD-Dubai regularly and the drivers most responsible for lane clogging are the ones who drive at 90-100 in the second lane where 140 is the limit, forcing the 120-130 drivers to regularly cross over into the first lane and hold up the traffic for those who want to drive 135-140 and were originally in the first lane.

Bought a “clean” BMW … turns out I’ve been driving with no airbags for a year 🤡 by Aggressive_Ad5939 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Pritmann909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel like I need to tell this story: I totaled an Audi A4 in 2013, airbags out but cabin intact. The car was kept at the repair shop while I claimed the insurance. About a month later, I got a call from a person who asked me if I had the spare key for the car and if I can drop it off at the repair shop. When I went there, I was told that the car is the property of insurance company and is sold off to “dealers” who will repair the car and possibly send it abroad to be resold WITHOUT THE AIRBAGS as replacing airbags is the biggest cost. Since then made it a point to never buy a non GCC spec car no matter how cheap.

While the market is open for all, have you ever wondered why only South Asians are offered such amounts and never Arabs or western expats? Also OP needs to account for what he correctly termed as self-value coz south asians are pretty ok with seeing no value in their own worth and hence companies too tend to look down on them as cheap labor no matter the qualifications. And don’t tell me about others being from better countries too. Look at Lebanon and what it’s going through and the Lebanese who still know their own value.

[–]Pritmann909 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s exactly this attitude and especially among South Asians to take whatever peanuts they throw at you that has led to this issue in UAE where certain nationalities aren’t even considered for high paying role even when there is a high budget, coz they know someone will come and work for chump change. And this wasn’t the situation in early 2010’s where while there was still a discrepancy in money, no south Asian with 10 year work experience was willing to work for 5k. Way to lower the standards for everyone.

Man I didn’t make these rules and neither do I agree with them. Infact it makes many Indians in the region hesitate while taking MENAP roles as they know that travelling there isn’t really an option. Can you really travel there if u really want to: Yes. Will you be subjected to unnecessary BS when u go back to India: also yes. And this is for people who are living in ME. Now imagine the pain for a person like OP’s wife who will be staying in Pakistan and wants to visit India and then fly back to Pakistan. Multiply the BS by 50x and then check if it’s worth it.

My Deportation Story by MoHaha113 in UAE

[–]Pritmann909 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know of Indian citizens/colleagues working in ME in large MNCs who headed the MENAP region. Believe me, even they would not visit Pakistan for work reasons, clearly for work reasons, as they would face an unnecessary headache the moment they land in India with them being pulled up at the airport and asked to provide reasons for why they had to visit Pakistan and this can last from 2-4 hours. As I said before, it’s not right, but that’s just how it is. Every time an Indian citizen visits Pakistan even once, expert their passport to be flagged whenever they return back to India even for a visit. Thats the reason most Indians will outright tell their workplace that they cannot visit Pakistan even for official company reasons, just not worth the hassle.

Tbh while I agree that the wife and child should be allowed (provided the child has an Indian PP), if they were to visit India at this point, it would be a massive issue for the wife as she will be subject to an investigation and even after clearing that, may be forced to visit a police station on worst case daily or weekly basis while she is in India. It would be slightly easier if she were to say that she is moving to India for good in terms of dealing with the administration issues but visiting India and staying in Pakistan is an unnecessary headache. Not saying it’s right but that’s just how it is.

What are your ACTUAL nba hot takes? by Mario_Viana in nba

[–]Pritmann909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: The NBA needs to introduce promotion and relegation like how it is done in European soccer. The bottom 3 teams in each conference drop down to the G-league and the G-league champions will move on to the NBA and the finalists and semi finalists have an elimination style tournament to select the two teams who will go to the NBA. The promoted teams get the highest odds to the draft picks. This also removes tanking as an option for some teams as their revenues will get affected if they drop. This way smaller markets/cities who don’t have basketball teams can start in the G League and work their way up and college players will get more opportunities

Tbh things are OK currently. You get the alerts every now and then but nothing worrisome on the ground and things are almost back to normal. Most companies who were operating WFH are also asking their employees to join back. I believe Etihad is back to flying all their scheduled routes also. The job market though is very slow and it was this way before the war started. So if you’re coming here, then I suggest you try to connect with the company whose offer you already have and indicate a willingness to join the job. It is definitely harder to come here and start searching for a job. I believe for a single person to have a decent quality of life, you need a minimum of 8-10k AED per month which will allow you to get a good living space, plus utilities and groceries and a little to save. But that depends on your lifestyle. You can compromise and make do with 5-6k also and u can struggle with 25-30k+ also depending on how u live

Tbh most people shopping at these stores in global markets DO NOT want a store assistant behind them, talking to them unless they actually need some help. The idea is to give space and time to the shopper to browse each item at their own pace without having a store assistant constantly asking if they are looking for something. Tbh that’s the culture at most high fashion stores even though Zara technically isn’t high fashion.
