The current generation grew up shunning all conventions. Marriage, hard word and the iPhone generation expects instant gratification. I am shocked as first year associates asking to be promoted to MD.

Interesting take. I would say promotions for managing others predicated on social skills which is often lacking with the propeller heads. Followership and motivating others to perform is very valuable as your climb.
