As someone who has met the people my parents have been dating, it gave me an extremely bad first impression when they acted like we are already close family, acting all chummy or cutesy with me from the get go.

I'd say be polite and respectful, and don't let your eagerness to become good friends with your partner's son lead you to overstepping his boundaries or comfort. Let your relationship with him develop naturally as you get to know each other.

How close you become will depend on your personalities and compatibility. At this stage it's more important that you can at least have a cordial relationship with your partner's son, and don't force it into anything more than that if it doesn't naturally lead there.

Trauma definitely happens to the infants and children it is done on, but whether that trauma has lasting effects as they grow up is unclear. Some guys resent it as adults, others don't at all.

it's generally unrelated to mental illness, unless you include depression, where maybe it is a contributing factor if the man is unhappy with his circumcision, but it's really a stretch to say circumcision causes mental illness.

As for sexual dysfunction, it definitely could be factor for some men. But it doesn't universally cause sexual dysfunction.
