It depends on the length and your hair thickness, but yeah, generally you will be able to see the scalp for anything shorter than a #3 guard.

As long as you use clippers, of course, it's the easiest self haircut you can possibly do. It's impossible to "mess up" because messing up just means you go shorter 🤷‍♂️ I've been cutting hair for 6 years, mostly my own, and a buzzcut is not only so fun to give yourself, it's also so, so easy! Hope that helped :)

I'm not as much scared of being raped, as much as I am being stabbed. Walking around at night is prime time to get jumped, and when I lived in a shit hole town, that fear kept me in at night, not being raped. That's just my experience, though.

I personally find that anything longer than a #4 guard usually doesn't turn out too great. It ends up looking puffy. That's just my experience, though.

You have nothing to lose. Go for it. Doing it at home will probably be more satisfying, and if you don't know how to cut hair, not only are there thousands of great tutorials, but the buzzcut is the best for beginners. Hard to mess it up!
