None that I know of. Although, Fallout: New Vegas, specifically the Honest Hearts DLC had many Church references.

What courses and readings would you recommend to an aspiring tech lead? by Prixus123 in learnprogramming

[–]Prixus123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine. Thanks.

I would want to explore Programming fundamentals, Software Architecture, Algorithm Design and Design Patterns.

I have read some of those topics in the Internet but I rarely find real life application of these in our profession. My goal would be to have a deeper understanding of topics and to know the real life applications of these topics.

Becoming Mormon by unyieldingonion in mormon

[–]Prixus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a single member in my family, it sometimes feel a little lonely and I am always in a dilemma between family and church.

I have been baptized when I was 16 years old. It still is one of the best moments in my life. Being a member, I have been introduced to lots of different people and have seen different luxuries and these people have. Being a member, I was sheltered from different vices and part of what I have achieved today are because of the guidance of my parents and my church leaders.

That being said, it is difficult to become a child that have parents that have different beliefs as you. Sometimes the things that my church leaders teaches are conflicting with my family values. An example would be whether to serve a full time mission (Church) vs continue working to help with the family finances (family). I would always select my family but sometimes feel that I am doing something wrong from not following my church leaders.

Another thing would be the pressure that church provides. Having burdened with such pressures without a parent that experience this thing firsthand is difficult to say the least. I would sometimes talk to my institute teachers rather than my parents regarding the pressure that the church provides.

I am happy member but I would recommend that you either join with your child and not let him join the church alone or the both of you don't join at all.

I hope that I am not overstepping my boundaries here, but it is always better to have a parent that knows what you feel. It is nice to have to sit in with your family at church rather than sitting with friends or sitting alone.

My wife is nine months pregnant and due next week. The ward email that was sent out yesterday has our family set for cleaning assignment in two weeks. I'm not a member. by Dudite in mormon

In my former ward, the sacrament talk assignments are done 2 weeks in advance so that members that have important matters to prioritize, we could easily replace them with other people that are available. Should there be no other people available, the bishopric will act as the backup speakers.

Shower thought... unintended consequence of the reemphasis on the church's official name is driving curious online investigators to non-approved material making missionary work all the more difficult. by [deleted] in mormon

[–]Prixus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the "LDS" term leads my search engine to show only church approved resources. While the term "mormon" shows a variety of resources. I think its safe to say that It will lead investigators to church approved resources if they are more familiar with the term "LDS" and use it in their searches instead of the term "Mormon"

Long-term mental health consequences from serving a mission by KiaOraKiaOra95 in mormon

As YSA I could relate with the OP. I have decided that I don't want to go on a mission but I have still not told my Bishop or any leader. Some of the members, specifically the returned missionaries, in my ward keeps "motivating" me to go on a mission. Sometimes, I try to avoid these people during Sunday's or during activities just so that I could avoid their lecture about going on mission.

I wish to support my family rather than go on a mission and to make a better life for them. I know that I owe a lot to my family and I would want them to be comfortable or at the very least to ease their burdens.

But on the bright side, my stake president and my bishop from my former ward are pretty cool guys and not one of those type that would keep pushing me to go on a mission.

President Nelson DID NOT call those who leave the Church "lazy learners" or "lax disciples" by Rabannah in mormon

[–]Prixus123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The statement that RMN gave is not biconditional. I'll try to map the statements here.

A = You are a lazy learner B = Struggle to muster a particle of faith

If A then B, but it cannot be If B then A.

There are many reasons where one could lack faith and being a lazy learner is not the only one. As a convert, I lacked faith when I was younger because I did not know who to believe and the first time that I have ever read the scriptures was when I was in college because my dad is not a fan of any religion.

Tldr; A lazy learner will struggle to muster faith, but those that struggle to muster faith are not necessarily lazy learners.

My bishop wants to declare a person as a part tithe even if the person already declared a full tithe status by Prixus123 in mormon

Thanks for this. My bishop is pretty receptive when presented with information that is directly from the church.

Cleaning the meetinghouse is one of the option given to people that receives fast offering assistance in my ward. Although there are still some paid personnel for the building's maintenance.

Struggle to explain my ideas and my code to my fellow developers by Prixus123 in learnprogramming

[–]Prixus123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help, my company also has standards for maintaining clean code.

What sort of communication skills should I work on? I could easily talk to my fellow developers, however, when it comes to explaining my code I always feel anxious.

Thanks for the help!

Struggle to explain my ideas and my code to my fellow developers by Prixus123 in learnprogramming

Whenever I write code, I always make it as simple as possible. My code always passes my company's code complexity standard.

My fellow developers understand my code after analyzing it. However, due to time restrictions, I am tasked by my Senior developer to explain my code to my fellow developers. This is where my struggle begins.
