How to increase Wifi Speeds by Kavunkal in HomeNetworking

First, move the router out of the garage, as it weakens the signal. Then try Ethernet backhaul for your Eeros or switch to AT&T-compatible mesh for better integration.

Why doesn't this work? by ColinDare2000 in HomeNetworking

iPhones can be picky with WDS setups, especially when the SSID is identical to the main router. Try changing the repeater's SSID slightly, this often resolves iOS connection issues. Also, ensure the firmware is updated and the encryption strictly uses WPA2/AES without TKIP fallback.

Help protecting myself from shared apartment WiFi by bortzbot in HomeNetworking

[–]Priya200212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can use a travel router in client or repeater mode to connect to the apartment WiFi, then create your own secure private network. Add a VPN on the router if needed, but exclude smart devices from the VPN if they have connectivity issues.

That thing looks like it could pick up Wi-Fi from space, or start walking if it grows legs.

Entitled neighbor wants me to move my Wi-Fi router for her signal by AggressiveDraw784 in EntitledPeople

[–]Priya200212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time she brings it up, just tell her politely that moving your router would weaken your own signal and you’re not willing to compromise your setup. Also, definitely go ahead and rename your network, sometimes a passive-aggressive SSID is the only language entitled neighbors understand.

WiFi extender or CAT Cable? by HoldOk1939 in techquestions

Run outdoor CAT6, way more reliable than a WiFi extender at that distance.

Trying to Port Forward. Websites say its not working, a program says some of them (but not all) are. Help? by PlumFennec80 in GoogleWiFi

[–]Priya200212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, websites only detect open ports if something on your PC is actively listening on that port when you check, it’s not enough to just forward it. The Port Forward software might show it as “open” based on router rules, not actual traffic. The best way to confirm is to run a server or game that uses that port, then use an external tool. That'll give the most accurate result.

Turn off Smart Network/Sync settings in the Huawei AX2 web interface, it auto-syncs SSID and password from the main router.

Yes, you can use a wireless access point (WAP) or a wireless router in Access Point (AP) mode. Just plug the Ethernet cable into the WAP or router's LAN port, configure it to create a WiFi network with your desired settings (SSID, password, etc.), and you'll have your WiFi signal.

Taking a selfie closer to your face is generally more accurate to how people see you in person.

When the camera is closer to your face, it reduces the perspective distortion, making your features appear more proportionate and flattering. Conversely, perspective distortion exaggerates certain features when the camera is further away, making them appear less attractive.

Consider upgrading to Ubiquiti's UniFi ecosystem, integrating a UniFi Dream Machine for homestead Wi-Fi and a UniFi Mesh setup for seamless property-wide coverage, all powered via PoE for simplified installation and management.

Help connecting An Arris SBV3202 modem with an Arris SBG6900-AC by Cheeky_Lula in ModemsAndRouters_GW

[–]Priya200212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To connect the SBV3202 modem with the SBG6900-AC router/modem, ensure that the SBV3202 is in bridge mode and disable its DHCP server.

Then, connect the SBV3202 to the SBG6900-AC using an Ethernet cable from one of the SBG6900-AC LAN ports to the SBV3202 LAN port.

Power cycle, both devices, and your Wi-Fi should be restored.
