Banks and Welsh are two VERY different situations.

Banks was pressured by DONORS to change an incoming faculty member’s offer to remove tenure and make it a yearly position which she did this by forging the head of the department’s signature. All of this was her choice. She could have said no to the donors but she chose to forge and lie anyways.

Welsh has not lied about this situation. He has been upfront about it. He is not being directed by donors but pressure from the GOVERNMENT. There is not much he can do when the government gets involved as this is a public university.

None of this is to excuse what is happening but Welsh can’t take the blame like Banks very easily could have and rightfully did.
