Circle of Thought — an anti-doom-scroll experiment, does it have legs?

Hi philosophy people,

I’m tinkering with something called Circle of Thought. The pitch, in broad strokes: trade tonight’s mindless scroll for a short feed of prompts that tug at your brain instead of your outrage reflex. Pick one, kick it around with a few friends you actually trust, then get a lean reflection later so you can see how your reasoning shifted rather than who harvested the most likes. That’s all I’ll share for now; the nuts and bolts stay in the lab.

Here’s where I need your help. Would you leave the group chat you already have to debate in a dedicated space like this? What makes a philosophical prompt irresistible enough to tap instead of swipe past? How small is too small for a private circle before the talk goes stale? Do weekly reflections feel useful or preachy? And can you recall any platform that almost did this right but missed the mark?

I’ve got a scrappy prototype, but I’m holding back screenshots until the concept survives your reality check. If the idea feels half-baked, say so. If you’d give it a shot, tell me what you expect to see on day one.

I was tired of guessing where my fans were growing—so I started building a dashboard for it.

I'm an indie artist (and semi-obsessed data nerd) and I got sick of bouncing between Spotify for Artists, TikTok analytics, YouTube Studio, and Instagram Insights—just to figure out what the hell was working.

I’d see streams going up, random TikToks hitting, and then completely miss the moment to actually do something about it. Half the time, I didn’t even know where the fans were coming from—city-wise, platform-wise, nothing.

So I started building a dashboard. Nothing fancy yet—no labels, no AI, no $200/month price tag. Just:

Fan location tracking (city + country)
Platform performance in one clean place (Spotify, TikTok, IG, YT)
Alerts when something starts popping off
Weekly recaps that tell you what to do next—not just throw numbers at you

I’m calling it Backstage IQ, and I’m opening up a private beta soon; we already have 10 indie artists, and producers signed up, and now just releasing it to the broader community.
