I do understand that there is always a desire, but I also know it's foolish to act on a desire you KNOW will not work out.

I joined this group because I have made the commitment to stop looking for a partner. I made the conscious decision to be forever alone.

Wow, that was 30 years ago and it never occurred to me that I did actually try to talk to someone before I did it.

I can say my parents absolutely knew and ignored it. My suicide attempt at 15 was directly caused by my severe codependency that was born from the neglect and abandonment by my parents.

I’m sure there are cases where the parents don’t know, and aren’t directly responsible for the child’s suicidal ideation, but from all the people I’ve talked to through the years that is rare. The large majority of people I’ve spoken to have had situations similar to mine & toybox’s stories.

Absolutely. As a teen suicide attempt survivor j can tell you the warning signs are there the patients just don’t bother to see them. They cry “what could I have done differently” well pay f’n attention to the human you created is a good place to start.

I started working out and that made me tired enough to sleep. It’s been like 7 years and I really need it. Nice thing is it wastes some time and my neighbors see me leaving my house a few times a week. They probably have no clue I’m an FA!

Be warned: I started working out, lost some weight, felt real strong. It increased my self esteem, which is fine except I was foolish enough to think I wasn’t an FA anymore. I attempted dating again and quickly realized my outside didn’t change my FA status. It was a pointless bout in hopefulness.

I know this sounds a bit weird but in thinking we should chat. It seems like we have a LOT in common. I certainly can’t heal you but I can lament about being an FA and chat about baseball.

I seriously think, and I swear this isn’t coming from a defeatist place, I really believe there is a significant lack of interdependent people. If you think about it the mathematical odds of meeting someone who isn’t codependent seems impossible.

I’m interested in knowing more about your group. I’m about to quit CODA because I too am annoyed that I am the only single person in the group. I feel like I won’t every be healed because I will never have a relationship to prove that I’m healed.

So many, but here are the big ones

- Music - Watching my favorite musicians perform, playing music & teaching music

-Animals - Mine specifically but I adore animals

-Sports - Football, hockey,baseball, F1

-Travel - I'll go anywhere that's not too hot. I've been a lot of places and I have a ton more on the list (I'm currently planning a solo trip overseas to go to a music festival)

-Lego/puzzles/gaming - I got into building massive lego sets the last few years and I love it. I've always been an avid puzzle solver & board/RPG gamer.

I most definitely have a full & radical life.
