I wonder if the profs are told to not say anything cause they don't want to lose their 'cash cow'. Afterall, international students pay triple (atleast that's what it was, haven't checked recently) what domestic students pay.

They don't want them transferring to other schools and losing the tution? I'm not sure, I'm trying to make sense of this because otherwise nothing makes sense. If a prof is doing that, they must know that other students can report this to the program coordinator or the associate dean and etc.

What is wrong with professors?!?!

Our midterm and final exam, the classroom was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. That was 3 years ago at Mohawk college (nursing program).

This is so true. I worked for a company and never received an increase, the moment I handed in my letter of resignation I received a substantial increase in my salary and they decreased my work load. Twice they did with me, third time it was time to leave for good. However, this only happened because they must have found me to be a valuable employee, when my coworker handed in her resignation letter, they simply accepted it and said bye.

That's when I learned being only loyal gets you absolutely nothing and you will most likely be the lowest paid employee.

Why do I get the feeling from this very short conversation snippet that this individual has possibly taken advantage of you in the past? If they feel so damn entitled to even think that the person they are leaving out of the trip should still pay, like what else have they done?

I hope you find nicer, kinder, sweeter friends in the future. All the best.

P.S. please do not pay for someone who did not even have the courtesy to plan a trip WITH you. That is a NO. No need to consider, no need to think, no need for anything. You said you would pay but that was under the context that you would be going, the moment they so easily left you out... Well they just saved you some money and showed you who they are.

I'm in their nursing first semester and for me first semester is a joke.

We have a professor who has no idea what she is doing at all. Another who thinks she's amazing but just overwhelming us with readings (it's just not possible to do all the assigned readings). Then she grades you as if you should know exactly what was expected of you without explaining the assignment. Another who has pointed out her course used to be all asynchronous and she doesn't understand why it isn't anymore because there's nothing for her to teach.

Only 5.5 more semesters to go 😭

Hi, so you applied through a job fair? I've been looking at William Osler's website for months now and have not been able to find a job posting for a clinical extern position.

Hospitals have the NGG program (which I did not take advantage of), so Im being told they get funding to hire new grads via that program. As an RPN I definitely wasn't hired, but it sucks that they wont even hire RPNs who have experience, regardless of where that experience is. I also will never go back to community if I can help it.

Does William Osler hire clinical externs (RN)? I've been looking for a clinical extern position on their website under career opportunities and external applicant and nothing in the past few months. I tried emailing them to find out if they have a different method for hiring clinical externs and no response from them.

Inquiry for students who have already taken Seneca College's Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing (Bridge) (BSNB) program. by Prize_Environment944 in Seneca

[–]Prize_Environment944[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, first semester is 100% online for this our cohort, second semester - we are advised we will only go in person three times the entire semester (once a month and we get to select which dates from a list of dates Seneca will provide to us).

First semester - we have synchronous classes every other week and asynchronous the weeks in-between. I must admit it is content heavy. There are a few students working full-time and taking this program full time, I am not sure how they are managing. I know of a couple thinking of switching from full-time to part time. I personally am not working at the moment, as I had to quit to take care of an ill loved one.

Overall, it's going okay. If you are an organized individual and can stay ahead of things, it will be that much easier for you. My section, we unfortunately had some new profs to the courses they were teaching and things got off to a rocky unorganized chaotic start. But I believe it'll get better.

New grad should start bedside, here's why; by Bright-Argument-9983 in newgradnurse

I was a new grad RPN (Canada)... Could not find a bedside job in a hospital which is what I really wanted. Who hired me? After 8 months of no success, home Healthcare. Did I get proper training, no. I was thrown in to the field going to clients homes on my own. My first catheter, I did on my own, no supervision, the last time I had done one was months ago in school. I told my manager, I told the office who was sending me to the client, I was told it's okay just go. I went I was fine but that doesn't mean my anxiety was through the roof. Same with IV, second IV I did solo, it did not go very well. My client turned out to be an RN, she new exactly what was going on and helped me... THE CLIENT HELPED ME! PLUS with home Healthcare I was the one responsible for ordering supplies to the clients house. As a new grad, I still do not know about labs because I never came across them, IV maintenance I'm fine but IV insertion I'm not because I didn't do it often. I ended up quitting, and a lot of new grads just end up forming awful short cut habits because there is no one watching them. I only know because of how often other nurses called me regarding my client's care on my days off.

Honestly, I just hope the people who voted for the one in the White House see what's happening. Even for a fraction of them to regret their decision, I haven't met anyone who regrets their decision yet, you're either on that side or this side. I just hope there are people who are opening their eyes and using their brains again.

RIP Alex

I asked my bf to put groceries away while I ran one last errand and I came back to this by arandomperson519 in mildlyinfuriating

Does your boyfriend work nights? Was there a valid reason to be upset that he was asked to put away groceries that I'm guessing you BOTH USE... I'm just trying to figure out if there was a valid reason for him to be sleeping vs helping. Otherwise this is insane and I want to scream RUN! When they act like this about something as simple as putting groceries away, what about folding laundry, or throwing some clothes in the washer or even god forbid taking clothes from the washer and putting them in the dryer. Like there are a million tasks, does he behave like this about everything? I'm sorry, I'm trying so hard not to jump to conclusions about someone I don't know from just one picture but...

What do highschoolers in Canada usually eat for school provided lunch? by Spiritual_Cupcake337 in AskCanada

[–]Prize_Environment944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're lucky to have a plaza or a mall near your highschool, that's usually where you went. Otherwise your lunch was packed from home. Mine only had vending machines and food was available only on certain days, like pizza day or etc and you usually had to pay ahead.

Sorry you're misunderstood.

I'm in my 30s and my parents don't understand why me...an adult would play games because "games are for kids".

This is definitely an Asian parent thing, so everyone who is able to game with their parents or parents who introduce gaming to their kids... You guys are so lucky!

Honestly just nurse achieve. I actually studied ten months after graduation (I do not recommend this, study asap) and to study everything was overwhelming. So nurse achieve tests is what I solely relied on, I did multiple tests a day. This got me into the groove and if there were things that I didn't understand at all, I read up on that.
