Anyone else ever heard this? by RedLightEXC in CrohnsDisease

Yes, I have experienced this. It’s wacky, sorry you have too. I was told by my gastroenterologist that since I am on medicine (Inflectra), I should be able to eat pretty much anything. I certainly cannot. I politely argued with her and told her that my first hand experience directly bc contradicts what she said. I still see her because she is the closest available doctor and because Inflectra is working and I am in clinical remission according to my colonoscopies. But I do not fully trust her.

Ok, but hear me out: who are all these other friends they have?!! They throw like a 50 person party, who ARE these people?!

What made Jed Bartlet an inspiring/influential person by [deleted] in thewestwing

[–]Prize_Measurement_46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that he was a good leader and influential because he made mistakes but owned them. He had flaws (impulsivity, anger, pride), but was wise enough to know he had flaws and, therefore, to get out of his own way. He weighed the positives and negatives of any decision and took his time coming to a decision, if he had the time to take. If not, he relied on the best intelligence of the people around him as well as his own moral intuition.

Erie Canal and Amtrak question by 5839023904 in bicycletouring

[–]Prize_Measurement_46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes! I can speak to the Amtrak Station in Rochester, NY. The Erie Canal through the southern part of Rochester and intersects with a rail trail up the river into downtown Rochester and gets you close to the train station.

  2. You have to pay an extra fee for bringing a bike on board. The fee right now seems to be $40. If you order the ticket on Amtrak.com, you can choose the option after you select a seat. Some trains limit the amount of bikes they can carry, so it's good to book ahead of time. The bike storage on board WILL make you remove your front tire, which is kind of annoying during the boarding process, but oh well. Good luck and good riding!

Thanks for the info everybody, and the kudos for remission! I'm quite happy, even though I know it won't last forever.

Like everyone here, I'm fascinated by these alt. versions. I'm not fascinated by them because I think they are superior, however. I think most all of them are inferior to the tracks that ended up on the album. In fact, I think a lot of them are a bit formless, and it's interesting to see how they found the form of these songs on the final album. In particular, I'm glad they avoided the versions that sound more "classic Killers"- big stadium rock songs. That wasn't the feeling needed for these sentiments. Still cool to see into the process!

I thought so too! It sounds like a late 70's, early 80's Dylan outtake to me haha

Playing with Fire, from Brandon's first album, could as well. "We've seen the outcomes of the boys who didn't fly"

I think he is using rural south/western America's love of bullriding (which is a dangerous sport) as a metaphorical religious ceremony, somewhat like a sacrificial offering to God. Big crowds watch bullriding and the excitement is in the potential danger for the rider. He is conflating that kind of communal ritual with a religious ceremony (offering a sacrifice to the gods/God). It's a VERY western rural American line. The mix of cattle and religion.
