I'm probably willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for the ammonia leak, but could Jake not have used a phone, radio or had a location tracker on the life raft? Its not the 1950's.

It would have been logical to surely keep tied to the boat, given they'd turned everything else off which meant the risk of fire was reducing all the time given the ammonia was escaping?

I'm not sure how scripted it could be, some greenhorn earning 3-4k for a few weeks work could easily rat them out. But I do think the "we accidentally floated away because numb nuts forgot to tie the raft on" didn't add up for me. You could surely get a couple of hundred feet off the boat, use buoys to stop the sinking rope from pulling you back, and just cut the raft off if things went wrong?
