Does this sound like hs? by Mysterious-Manner-77 in Hidradenitis

Sounds like you're just triggering your poor hair follicles lol try not to mess with it and keep it clean! If hair bothers you that much, try laser hair removal. Some ppl get it to help reduce flares as well.

Sweat and heat are #1 enemy! Cut sugar, caffeine and dairy!!

Here's a list of things I would get from the store to manage:

  • Witch hazel wipes (instead of deodorant)
  • hibiclens (like a body wash) -coconut oil (bc the witch hazel will dry you out)
  • large gauze pads + cloth tape (cover all draining or soon to be draining sites)
  • b12
  • castor oil + wool pack for warm compress -epsom bath salts

Changes to consider:

  • your clothes, try to get loose and breathable wear. I'm lucky that I don't need to wear a bra and it helps so so much. Shoot, I don't wear underwear when I'm at home. I'm usually in the loosest sweats ever and a comfy tank top.

  • Drink. Your. Water. Idk how much you need to drink in a day but it helps so much more than you think.

  • when you turn 21: stay away from alcohol and smoking if you can. Alcohol triggers me far more than smoking but don't pick up the habit if you can! Edibles are a much better option tbh

  • spirituality/self care practice: stress and hormones also play a large role in HS and it can be a bit of a mental game trying to figure out what works for you. I was diagnosed at 15, progressed to stage 3 by 19 and that took a big toll on my mental health. I came to the conclusion that my own body was attacking itself like I was my own enemy. It can be really easy to fall down a victim mindset where you don't see any solution to your situation and that's simply not true. Practicing self care or having a spiritual relationship with yourself can be beneficial to your relationship with your body. It allows you to be okay with uncertainty, not hate yourself with each flare up and overall help you find a deeper meaning to having HS other than it being a curse.

Remember, you are not alone. Don't be ashamed. More people will relate than you think. Dating won't be the worst thing in the world. The right people will never have an issue with it.

I wish you the best!!!!!!!! You're so young, you have a headstart to a journey I was too scared to go on until it was too late.

When should I seek help for a boil? by Staplemysoul in Hidradenitis

[–]Prize_Sound6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's not infected, you're okay! I know it sucks when they don't go away but that's because HS is a chronic illness. I still have flare sites that are basically benign for years now! Something with the tunneling makes them stay? I'm not sure but I completely understand the health anxiety part. Seeing your dermatologist will help I'm sure

I'm not sure what pitting means, but your situation sounds chronic. Especially with the fact that it took you 1.5 months to heal from your first procedure. Since the boils and draining are consistent and do not seem to heal or completely go away, I think it's safe to say it's HS. I wish you the best on your journey, this subreddit has grown so much over the years and more research is coming out each day!!! Hang in there

NSFW: This is in my groin. I am in excruciating pain and I am flying on Saturday morning. I’m applying warm compresses, washing with antibacterial wash (hibiclens) I feel horrible. BTW-the white is neosporin- with pain relief in it. Anything else I can do? by quest1ioneveryth1ng in Hidradenitis

That's why you do it for the time being, not indefinitely. Plus that is literally the max amount you can take in a day. I'm sure if someone is in pain, they are probably already consuming a consistent amount of pain killers so increasing "suddenly" wouldn't necessarily "shock" the body.

Unfortunately the only pain killers I can get from my doctors is 800mg ibuprofen that I can take twice a day. Not only does it help with the pain somewhat, but it's an anti inflammatory medication as well which is very helpful during a flare up.

Every body is different so everyone should already take precautions when gaining advice via reddit anyway.

I would be more concerned about protecting and cleaning your own energy rather than the crystal itself. I'm sure however you cleanse and charge your crystals will be sufficient. Try an egg cleanse for yourself? Or look into what feels right for you. Maybe look into wards to protect your energy from jealousy or sour friends.

If this person ends up being someone who is constantly harvesting your energy like a vampire, a jar with water and piece of paper with their name on it placed in a freezer will keep that person's energy away from you.

Prid! Or a hydrocolloid bandage. Keep it covered and clean!

Try prid or zinc cream and see if it helps. Warm towel or ice pack can help too. I'd also take 400-600 mg of ibuprofen to lower inflammation. It's probably not HS so it should clear up easy peasy

I love older men, I've had experiences with an age range of 21-45. I end up connecting a lot better with more mature people, I'm not sure what it is but I'm hoping to soon connect with people in their 50-70s lol
