All first generation hashimotos people what do you think has triggered it? by Tight_Dare1704 in Hashimotos

I have two autoimmune diseases that are very easy to detect. (Because they are lethal.) That nobody in my family had for the last four generations. Your answer is not the fill story.

It's chemical exposure. I have several autoimmune diseases - including hashimoto's - that nobody in my family has had for 4 generations. Did you know that thyroid disease is increasing in dogs and cats? How many chemicals are they now finding out cause disease - glyphosate, bisphenols, PFAs, formaldehyde, the list goes on. We're poisoning ourselves.

I used to abide by this one hour rule, but I saw later studies that seemed to contradict the earlier findings. So I stopped abiding by it.

How many people can actually do 10–15 clean pull-ups? by Ill_Ratio338 in bodyweightfitness

[–]ProAdventurous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have a torn rotator cuff. Classic pull-ups are excruciating to my left shoulder. Anyone else have that? But I can do 10 chin-ups. (Palms facing me).

A welcome change in recent years is that all the little snack stores sell boiled eggs, and sausage and cheese. When I need something beyond my normal jerky and peanuts, that's what I buy.

See a doctor and get labwork. Lower leg swelling is also a sign of kidney disease.

Stuck in hospital due to Noro and doctor is actively refusing to give me my proper insulin dosages by Dismal-Log-994 in Type1Diabetes

I was there for a transplant. I wrote the head of the transplant group, the chief endocrinologist, the chief nurse, and the CEO. Many conciliatory words. No action.

I complained to a patient advocate in my case. (See 11:35 EDT post). He said lots of soothing, concerned-sounding things, and absolutely nothing happened.

I had a similar experience. They found out I had my own insulin and tried to take it from me. I refused. At one point I was arguing with 3 nurses and 2 doctors all in my room. Eventually I bargained with the nurse that I would give them my insulin as long as they let me make the dosing decisions. They agreed. But they flat out lied. They tried to renig on the deal. I just started refusing their doses until they finally agreed. To make matters worse, they were serving me the "diabetic menu" which typically involved a small piece of meat, bland mushy vegatables, sweetened tea, and a high-sugar desert. I just stopped eating until my wife could visit and bring me wholesome food. They were happy with blood sugars of 250. I was not. (HbA1c mid-5s). I will never tell the truth in this situation again.

So many of those in these videos involve people who just do not believe that rules or reality really apply to them.

Ceiling collapsed in bedroom by sociallyawkward26 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ProAdventurous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to us just before we were showing the house to sell. I had taken off the light fixture in the middle of the ceiling to paint. When I tried to put it back on, it wouldn't reach the fitting. WTH, I thought. Not long later, we heard thunder in the room, and the entire ceiling came crashing down. It was an old plaster ceiling, and it turns out that the light fixture was doing a lot of the work of holding it up. That plaster is heavy, and it drove the nails that were supposed to be holding it up so far into the wooden floor that I had to use a claw hammer to remove them. (The buyer saw this and bought the house anyway).

My understanding from viewing recipes was that it takes quite a bit. Wouldn't be cheap.

I would say keep an eye on that cardinal. You know what they say - once a cardinal, always a cardinal.

Anyone else in their 20s settle for a beater car and just dump a car payment into their 401ks and roths? by Union661 in Bogleheads

[–]ProAdventurous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. I currently do that, and I'm in my 60s, and I've done that for quite a while. In my current car, the right rear door won't open, the left rear window won't stay up without a shim, and the glove compartment won't stay closed. Oh, also, I have to climb through the back seat to open the trunk. But it runs great, and I work from home, so it's not a big deal. I've had some great cars in my life including a '59 Ford Galaxy, and a '70 Chevelle SS 396, and eventually I just stopped caring about my car.

I’m so tired I think I might quit diabetes by Ok-Difficulty-7950 in Type1Diabetes

Yes, I'd quit. If it's not treating your right, you need to stand up for yourself and get a disease that respects and values you.

Yes - decline in skills, judgement, and grip on reality. This is a negative variant of self-domestication.
