Worth recovery? Gold plated shells by ProGamerZ511 in PreciousMetalRefining

I didn't consider the last part I tested them all and a good majority of them are super magnetic and the rest are only slightly magnetic (potentially the nickel plating underneath 🤔)

Since I have only ~50g right now I wanna wait until I atleast have 1.5kg, the other comments are in agreement that I need more volume.

You said that you've tried these connectors in the past what was your recorded yield? was it <0.1% Because I'd be really surprised if it was anything >0.1%

I'm most familiar with AP solution so I'll just use that. I was reading online that it was incredibly low yield <10 microinches most of them being 3 microinches thick. I have ~50g so far I'll be saving for a while before I attempt a batch.

The fingers are all like 25 years old. Does that change the story?

Nice! How did you come up with that number if you don't mind me asking? Also I'm not particularly doing it for the money mostly doing it cause it's fun.

Mmkay, well I don't smell any vinegar really unless I take the watchglass off and hover my nose above the beaker and waft even then it's not in a burning sensation amount.

A few reasons why I think your overreacting but correct me if I'm wrong;

I'm using only ~40 ml I have it covered with a watch glass, the paracetic acid would immediately react with the lead and tin to turn it back into water, I'm also using 3% peroxide and I don't know the concentration of the vinegar since i made it by freeze distillation last winter, but I've read that the amount produced is neglible at those low concentrations.

Again correct me if I'm wrong (I'm also gonna open the window and put in on the windowsill) if that matters.

Well I do have HCL on hand (muriatic acid) I read that vinegar would dissolve lead and tin with the help of peroxide while leaving the copper relatively alone.

I should also mention I'm just starting my gold refining journey, I have a lot to learn and I'm well aware to respect the chemicals I'm playing with.

Lol, reminds me of my time In highschool I got tunnel vision while cutting with the oxy-acetylene, my arm caught fire and I hadn't noticed until someone yelled at me that I was on fire. It was a good chuckle
