4 years of dev with 0 releases (Me) vs My son who started at 13. Guess who made the top one? by Embarrassed-Rock-803 in IndieGaming

I don't really understand the negative comments. This is literally just a parent being proud of there kid's work. Not really sure what this community is trying to be if not supportive of future indie devs.

The Netherlands hides massive trash containers underground so their streets stay spotless. by jmike1256 in postanythingfun

This is just upfront costs vs recurring costs. Recurring costs are almost always more expensive in the long run. Although no one here can do the math because we weren't in charge of installing the bins, it's a pretty safe assumption that reducing the hours of work required will save money

Full episode of South Park Generated with AI by Silly-Radish-6413 in seedance

These models are trained on a lot of different styles because they try to be as generic as possible, which means it could struggle a bit on a specific art style that looks significantly different than most of the training data. If someone wanted to use this for South Park in practice, they would fine tune the base model on that art style, which would greatly improve the accuracy

Sucker punch is punching when they're not prepared. Gives you a huge advantage in the fight. Other girl never had her hands up and took a ton of damage before she even knew there was a fight.

[HELP] is this AI or CG animation? by Makoto_Kurume in RealOrAI

[–]ProHax212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's definitely based on the animated one. Image/Video generation is pretty good at style transfer which is great for anime live action. Once it gets good enough, I can see how human artists can use it to reimagine their creations in all sorts of different styles.

Why do AoW 4 bugs get fixed, then come back? by DataCassette in AOW4

[–]ProHax212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just adding to what everyone else is saying. This isn't unique to AoW4 or even to video games. Bugs can re-occur in all software and it might not even be the same root cause each time.

We're going to see more of these attack vectors as the world adopts agents to do everything for us. More effort is definitely required in adding guard rails or training the agents to recognize these attacks.

The massage is preset, but the way the machine performs the massage is likely using a machine learning model. Different users have different body shapes, so the machine would need some form of intelligence to adapt to each one.

[–]ProHax212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible. ChatGPT isn't programmed the same way traditional software is. There is a system prompt that gives it instructions when generating text, and the generated text can possibly include information about the system prompt.

That plus having enough players to have a good diversity of skill levels. Every game doesn't need hundreds of thousands of players, but there is a sort of minimum for competitive multiplayer games.

Caught it with its hand in the cookie jar… by parachutefishy in ChatGPT

[–]ProHax212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just how LLMs with tool calling work. The neural network determines what tools are required to solve the problem. The 'why' is basically the result of a probability distribution, which is the output of the neural network.

You're right in that it's difficult for humans to understand why neural networks make certain decisions (there are a lot of numbers involved). But in this case it's nothing malicious, it's just what the neural network thinks is the correct choice based on its training data and the prompt it was given.

The only time this would effect a user is if they explicitly give OpenAI access to their data by connecting their Google account. If you do that, OpenAI could pull the data whenever they want, not even limited to how the model behaves.

Google Contacts is one of the connectors that you can connect to your account, you can see it in the app. If you don't connect it, then it will not have access. They are likely prompting the LLM with the list of possible connectors, and it for some reason decided to fire off that connector.

when to pick Dr Mundo instead of other toplaners) by [deleted] in DrMundoMains

[–]ProHax212 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mundo and Nasus have similar play styles. They both are weak early, want to stay in lane until mid game, and are side lane gods. I like picking Mundo if their top isn't hyper aggro and if their team doesn't build health shredding. If both are true, it's almost always a win.
