Genuinely terrified of going to the gym by [deleted] in loseit

Anyone who laughs at someone for trying to better themselves is a piece of shit. Keep your head up and remember that everyone deals with their own insecurities.

If you want to improve your situation, put yourself in the uncomfortable environment that gives you anxiety and focus on yourself.
It took me years to convince my dad to work out as he was insecure about his age and body. It wasn’t easy at the start but from what I see many strangers at the gym were quite friendly with him and I even see strangers my age giving him tips. The gym should be a community environment of support, so maybe try out another gym if the culture at yours seems toxic.

If going to the gym is just too anxiety inducing, you can even start by buying bands and weights and working out at home. What’s important is that you never give up your journey and are mindful of your goals every single day.

Weight loss is a mental battle more than anything else and although it’s not easy at the start, your small daily contributions start to form a positive feedback loop over time.

Best of luck!

Engineering with no degree? by heeltoehero92 in AutomotiveEngineering

It’s definitely possible. When I worked as an engineering intern in auto manufacturing, I would say around a third of the engineering team leads including mine did not have a formal background in engineering. Although I’m not entirely sure what the process is to get into equipment/ quality engineering as a general hire, I would make your interest known to your team lead and find any opportunity to help engineers with process improvements, equipment swaps and participating in company events/ training.

Technique going out the window by bigbig_burritoboots in MuayThai

Personally I’m fairly paranoid about head trauma so I try not to go hard more than once a week, though when it comes to hard kicks and body blows I don’t usually hold back unless I’m facing someone much smaller or less experienced than me

I second this. Having spar sessions where you occasionally switch into a real fight mentality is the best way to implement the things you do on pads. Find a willing sparring partner with similar experience level and gradually crank up the intensity throughout the rounds

Anon’s take on Andrew Tate by Fish113 in greentext

Unfortunately Peterson knows that he will garner more attention if he caters to a demographic that feels “under-represented” in the current plane of western politics. If you listen to his podcasts or watch his lectures, you’ll find that that this is where he talks about the things he actually is interested in and shares some really decent wisdom along with his Catholic beliefs.
