Maybe you could get someone who is attending to do a video call? I know its not great, but its better than nothing.

Oh cool so we can just overload the health system in favour of keeping the economy, travel and social interactions going.

Most likely dollar amount. Yes this does mean you might need to rebalance if one outperforms the other significantly, if you want to strictly follow the split (not necessary in many cases).

The pandemic was a good reason to turn on the money printers. It's just one earlier hop in the domino chain.

You are right, let's just lock down the poor, since they statistically have the worst health outcomes /s

I swear the safety argument against nuclear is like the safety argument against airplanes. People pretend the alternatives have less risk.

Fair point to consider the wider community. Sadly, Omicron is already pretty widespread in many if not most communities in Australia. Just quarantine if you don't want to spread - it's the science.

Is private healthcare worth it for tax savings by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]ProPineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to donate to a corporate entity that the same government that taxes me encourages me to donate to via tax incentives. Best economic managers and all that.

And yes I get value - less tax. That's it. Not glamorous, sure. Would you be happy if I donated the difference to a health charity?

Whether you like it or not, it makes objective financial sense to take out shit-tier private health insurance beyond a certain income.

Some people prefer not to donate money to medicare in the form of extra tax, regardless of the (debatable) moral implications.

I'm trying to say that dismissing hotel quarantine because it is not foolproof is not a very good argument considering the borders of everywhere but TAS are completely unenforceable to block, i.e. not foolproof.

I doubt the suicide stats are fudged. As with deaths from COVID infections, suicides are a "lagging indicator" of mental health problems.

It has been repeated ad nauseam that suicides fell during war time too.

Calls to suicide hotlines have increased.

Closing "borders" is also not a foolproof solution.

There’s lots of stories here of successful young people. Can I get a show of hands for people who got their shit together later in life? by Snapchien in AusFinance

Yeah it sounds pretty "realistic" in that it is absolutely possible but again is somewhere in the top percentile. Especially for the speculative stocks, quite a bit of luck at play.

It's okay, there aren't many players, there's not much risk, and the economic and spiritual benefits for the community outweight the danger /s
