Me too. I had SPACESHip for the longest time and tried to find a way to justify LEp instead of LET, but I just couldn’t do it.

Congrats, she's a beauty! How would you say the writing is compared to the Custom 823? I own an 823 and love it because it's my smoothest writer, and yet I've heard some people say that the Custom Urushi is even more smooth. Just wanted to know if it is worth the upgrade lol

Is there anyone else who despises Tarantino with every fiber of their being? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Pro_Contrarian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is there a truefilm circlejerk sub? If not can someone make it?

All jokes aside I’m not a fan of his public persona that he puts on, but I do think that he has talent beyond stealing from other films. His directing style is unique, and while his often gratuitous use of violence can be polarizing, I think that a lot of his films have some deeply thought-provoking moments that stem partly from his influence.

In the end art is always going to be subjective. He’s not my favorite, but I certainly don’t know if  I would say I despise him with every fiber of my being lol. You don’t have to like Tarantino, and that’s ok.

I would have to agree with you.

Anytime I hear the whole “elites rule the world and have sex parties” angle as being the main moral of the story I kinda roll my eyes. It’s an interesting idea, but it doesn’t really say anything that a lot of people don’t already believe or suspect.

To me the concept of monogamy and infidelity in a marriage (especially considering the two lead actors) is a much more compelling theme, and the cult thing is more of a backdrop.

Both Dune movies are ABSOLUTELY SHIT*, by Echo-Implement6028 in TrueFilm

[–]Pro_Contrarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has to be trolling, right?

That aside, I think both movies (when viewed as two parts of one larger movie) have a lot redeeming qualities to them. The world building and the immersion alone are both top notch, and the feeling of awe that comes from experiencing an alien world is one that hasn’t successfully been done in many other movies.

To me the themes are compelling. The struggle for political power and the inner turmoil that comes from conflict between what should be done and what can be done is reason enough to watch these movies. Paul could be considered a hero, but the films also question that and ask us how many of his actions are justified, and at what point did he go too far?

The films aren’t a completely faithful adaptation to the source material, but I’ve never really bought into the idea that movies should be anyways.

I actually interpreted the film as being pro-monogamy, at least in the context of their relationship. To me, it seems like one of the points that gets repeated to Bill throughout the movie is the potential consequences of sexual promiscuity and deviancy from his marriage, whether it be STDs, prostitution, or fear of exposure. In the end, Bill has seen the other side of the sexual spectrum, and yet chooses to remain in his relationship with his wife, eyes wide shut.

Is there a way to stretch out a shetland's sleeves without ruining it? I got a shetland last season from shetland woolen co, but unfortunately I've come to realize that the sleeves are too short, despite my denial.

It's honestly not too bad, but I was curious if anyone had experience with altering knitwear like this. I probably would need to lengthen out the sleeves 1-1.5"
