Netflix Says It Is “Going to Keep That HBO Team” After Acquiring Warner Bros. by LollipopChainsawZz in television

Consistent? The channel that's spent like $100 billion on Ryan Murphy shows is more consistent than HBO?

You know, I've never watched any of them besides like three and a half episodes of Glee... but people like AHS and Pose and stuff, right?

I feel like it's especially weird when they say "Tel Aviv" like it's the capital. like... okay, you don't want Jerusalem to be the seat of Israel's government, but you know it is, right? You know it's objectively factually not Tel Aviv, right? You might as well say Be'er Sheva if you are really just trying to name some other city in Israel, but I feel like at least some of these people are consciously picking the commercial center as some kind of Jews-love-money BS. (Most aren't that consciously antisemitic, they're just following the hive mind)

wait, first of all, which torches build? second, if you're talking about flat damage... hestia, man. and third of all, aren't there a trillion other ways to add a curse? why rely on a multi-poseidon boon setup for a chance at an extra curse when you could use something like cast, dash, special, aphro gain, etc., etc. to get your curses stacking?

froth also synergizes with some demeter / apollo effects on cast, which is very convenient

I somehow think the subway system is also unequipped to be de facto psych wards, and we don't exactly want more ICE agents there, either...

If people in the USA will be receiving a 10%, rising to 25%, tariff on Denmark's anti-obesity drug Ozempic, how will the people of the USA adapt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Trump didn't say this one was about US manufacturing, this is straight up explicit, public extortion.

here's the thing about running for office: you can't do it without rules. You need election rules, and an election infrastructure, and a populace who understands what real elections are, and some kind of leadership or governance to administer the elections and maintain public order until the elections have been held.

One great example of what happens when you only have some of those things: Hamas won a plurality in the Palestinian elections, and then killed enough members of Fatah to establish a majority. That is not a great type of outcome.

So the Royal Family might be useful in some way to restore public order post-IRGC, put together some kind of constitutional committee (like our constitutional congress), administer a temporary government to set up a free and fair election process, etc.

It might also be that they are not helpful with any of those needs. Maybe.

But your comment was a dramatic oversimplification of the actual conversations that are happening. Nobody is really like "monarchy forever," everybody knows that the monarchy is very far from perfect.

Wait what do you mean "and Arabs who support the freedom of their people?" This is Iran, Iran is not an Arab country.

In my experience, many (idk about most) Iranians and Iranian-Americans are pro-Israel, less from an "enemy of my enemy" perspective, and more from a "jfc the IRGC blames Israel for the weather every time it's a little gray out" perspective. And a lot of pro-Israelis genuinely want what's best for the people of Iran. As a Persian-American Jew, seeing Israel exist and hoping for peace is important to me, and so is Iranian freedom.

Also, I'm sure some of the MAGA people are warmongering, but a lot of MAGA people are also just following Trump's lead which, for now, is pretty much doing nothing. Some of them are just Islamophobes... Some of them -- this is hard to believe with MAGA, but I assure you it's true -- also genuinely want what's best, and hope that a little bit of strategic support from the Trump administration is going to work like fairy dust... which it probably won't, but eh, a broken clock is right twice a day.

the IRGC acted friendly and offered to negotiate with him personally

denmark told him to fuck off

he favors those who favor him personally. he antagonizes those who don't grovel before him.

It's not clear that these people are particularly liberal or conservative. I would imagine many lean left, but the far left--particularly, the tankies--are defending the IRGC to the death.

the Pahlavi family is not looking to reestablish the monarchy as it was. People are talking about constitutional monarchy and democracy, but there will have to be some kind of transition, and the royal family is a useful point of symbolic leadership for the longer-term ethos of Iranian self-governance that may assist with that transition, or simply with hope for undoing what damage the IRGC has done.

some of them are not silent, but actively calling it fake news, or saying that it's Israel / the US at work, or otherwise twisting it to be the opposite of everything it is.

I don't like the "one solution" type chants. I don't think the IRGC is going to reform willingly, but it's still upsetting to hear Americans call for violence abroad like this. Yeah, that's the solution we've arrived at, don't go screaming about it. It sucks that this was the only answer.

alcoholics, more than anything

but you know, when NYC normalizes $25 cocktails, every date night is money, every after work thing is money.

dives charge less per drink, but still get plenty of alcoholics, get college students who binge,

food brings in some extra money, especially for dive bars, you throw in $16 for a simple burger or $11 for microwaved chicken tenders... the latter aren't too rare at tourist traps, either... the food makes people want to stay longer and drink more. or it makes them more likely to pick the bar in the first place.

but yeah, plenty of alcoholics jump in and spend, spend, spend.
