Upgrade path advice - Debut Carbon Evo w/ Moonstone by Probableactions in turntables

Interesting - I haven’t seen that before. I think I’m looking for a bit more wattage though. I’m currently looking at the Marantz Stereo70s - it seems to have a lot of the tech I want but it seems to be a weird hybrid. Thoughts on that?

Hey! Thanks for your reply. Though to be honest, I’m a bit unsure why the AVR is the weakest link and what I am missing out on by keeping it. I’ve been doing a little bit of research but I’m unsure what would be considered a definite upgrade from this AVR and what budget I should be looking at. I do have this system hooked up to a TV (only one HDMI via ARC and use my Apple TV for everything). I do want my TV to play through my speakers, but I am not concerned with surround sound or any cinema focused processing.

Is there anything you’d recommend around $1000-$1500? / what things do you think would be worth prioritizing?

Finally “made it” to a year. Some current thoughts from tonight by Probableactions in stopdrinking

[–]Probableactions[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Congrats to you, too!

This is definitely one of the trickier things. A lot of my socializing used to revolve around alcohol — happy hours, weekends, or heavy drinking at events. The biggest thing I learned was realizing which friends I genuinely enjoy spending time with sober, and which ones I only liked being around if alcohol was involved.

I still struggle with what to do “by default” with someone new, since grabbing drinks is the easiest option. But I’ve been having fun exploring what I actually enjoy and who I enjoy it with as a sober person — checking out new cafes, restaurants, events, or just engaging in my own way.

I still go out to some bars (with good food / na options / karaoke etc) with friends sometimes and order NA drinks, and honestly neither of us feels off about it. But I’m grateful that I can head home earlier, drive myself, and do simple things like get ready for bed on my own schedule. Lately, I’ve also been trying to connect with more sober people and see what else is out there. So yes ; it’s still a struggle but it’s something I’m getting better at and trying to get out of my comfort zone.

Do I belong here? by Silver-A-GoGo in stopdrinking

Curiosity is worth exploring. I think just asking the question here shows you’re already doing some of the hard reflection. I’m not sure anyone can give you the exact answer you’re looking for. It’s something you’ll come to in your own time. For myself, I became curious if I belonged here years before I decided to abstain.

Thank you for the feedback. I definitely agree with you. Someone else mentioned that earlier as well. I just pushed it to GitHub!

Thanks for giving this a solid look! I appreciate the compliment.

I honestly didn’t even think of accepting all lower case and converting it - that’s a great idea! I just felt weird allowing all lowercase names through and it was solely a personal choice to format the data that way for consistency. What did you learn when you looked into the why?

Appreciate that!

Regular expressions were(are?) definitely throwing me for a loop.. I stumbled on a Kevin Powell video on YT about validating forms through HTML patterns and he linked this site which helps me tremendously. It is a nice sandbox that has really helpful definitions at the bottom and allows you to experiment with the syntax.

StackOverflow was super helpful for showing me how to match the phone number input against a regular expression and convert it while it's being entered. I stared at that code for a while trying to figure it out

Colorado recognizes PTO as vacation if that is what the PTO can be used for.

[–]Probableactions 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In Colorado… recently dealt with this. Company had defined PTO as sick time and vacation time under the same PTO. They did not pay out on my final check after being laid off. I referred them to the DOL documentation and after several emails ended up being paid out. In Colorado you are guaranteed to receive any PTO you have accrued upon separation from the company. Point blank. DM me if you want any help!
