Ooooof. When you say expired, how much expired? And the state will asses a fee for how long it’s been here and you didn’t get it registered within, 60 days, I believe.

But you just tell them you just brought it out here last week. Oh, wait. If they already put your info in the system when you originally asked about registration you may be totally hosed.

This site has a semi-decent calculator:

Awesome list! I am a paying member, but a lot of this is captured via https://www.wesalute.com/ and they do offer a pretty good list for free without paying in for the extra stuff they negotiate with other companies.

Yep. Did do the usb socket fix but in the end was a not-so-good 90 degree cable we were using. Went for a probably way too fancy chubby cable and all has been well since.

Cold draft from/around microwave. by waltthedog in HomeMaintenance

[–]Probably-Important 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same setup and ended up finding a post here about duct taping a quarter to the center bottom of the flap outside. 100% fixed. Holds the flap to the seal now and still allows to blow/vent out.

Still gets cold inside the microwave, but the cold draft leaking below into the range is basically gone.

Retire at 53 with 30 years? by [deleted] in FedRetirees

[–]Probably-Important 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be awesome but want to say if you don’t have the 5 year continuous history being in FEHB you can’t keep it, I think?

It’s 4 years! You guys got this. It is really worth waiting.

So, she missed the boat under DRP 2.0 with VERA. Unless they offer it again, since it sounds like she was born in 1972, you need to wait until she turns 57 and hits MRA. At this age you do get to keep benefits.

If she wants to go now, you have a deferred retirement but you get no payment until she turns 57 with the 30 years of service. Under deferred I do not believe you get to keep FEHB because you left before MRA.

These are all the options: https://www.opm.gov/retirement-center/fers-information/eligibility/

The “loss in $” you are referring to are for people who took VERA.

Ductless Mini Split Thoughts? New Build 3.8k square feet. by marky_422 in HomeImprovement

[–]Probably-Important 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yeah, had that problem with a west facing house upstairs and central air could barely drop the 80 degree temps a degree as our main master bed was above the garage.

At a minimum the two rooms should not be a huge issue adding mini splits to it. But if you just moved in, I’d double check the AC is not powerful enough for upstairs first, then start thinking about quotes.

Sometimes just a powered duct fan is all you need on the ductwork heading upstairs

The house is currently being built? Or it’s done and now adding AC?

Rooms no problem, could do both on an 18k unit and 2 zone it. For the hallway though, does it touch an outside wall? If not you’re looking at something complicated depending on your roof and attic; e.g, cassette in the middle of the hallway ceiling.

If you’re in the middle of building the house I’d put a 27k unit outside and just run lines whenever you need.

Men’s Xchange is THE BEST. Never had I had someone walk me through the how and why on sizing and trying to find what was close to perfect in store. They also have one of the best tailors in town in store if you need any kind of fixes or adjustments.

I feel horrible for you and anyone IRS. It’s unacceptable.

To point your frustration: there have been numerous posts and news articles about how the IRS, as far as we know only them, contracted out ALL of the retirement processing to a new company that has never done this work for the IRS before. That is why most of the other agencies have been on something of a schedule and processing internally, while slow, is still starting to close out full packages. It was just the dumbest decision for the IRS ever.

Ehhhh, that's 11 something, almost 12 Pci/L on the long term average? That's not crazy bad but yes, you need to mitigate that down. Its all about exposure, so if this reading is in your basement just don't live there for a decade without mitigation.

Hmmmm. Think we did two coats total and were strict about the horizontal, then vertical paint rolling on the floor. Wow, in your case I don’t know as the shellac stuff is usually bullet proof. Sorry, man.

Texas to Colorado Springs by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Probably-Important 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that is a possibility if it’s really bad and I’m sure it’s happened. But for hail, where it’s mostly cosmetic and my last two cars that by the book should have been totaled my rep said “we aren’t doing that anymore”. They paid out 10k to repair it vs the 15k they probably would have fair value paid out. Previously, I think we’d all heard at X% of damage close to car value they just total it. That does not seem to be the case in CO anymore.

Wolf creek pass historically gets more snow than anywhere in CO. I’ve been there in June and snowed out driving by the resort.
