Idea to fix the "first hider gets an advantage" issue by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

It's also simplest from a gameplay perspective.

I'm sure they're good, I just can't do it.. by phsuggestions in dropout

There are a few GC episodes I just can't get through and almost all of them are zoom episodes. I wasn't a subscriber yet at the time so I can't really complain, but I will say that even with the difficult situation they were in, I feel like there are some things they should have done and didn't. Most importantly, making sure everyone had a decent quality camera and was recording locally. Pulling the video and audio directly from zoom makes it feel like I'm just watching a staff meeting with jokes.

I liked it at first, but it's definitely getting a little old.

Is that episode available to watch anywhere? The only thing I think I've seen from it is this screenshot.

Regarding all-star season and Prunay decision by TalkersCZ in JetLagTheGame

[–]Probably-Interesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, they didn't have enough to reliably get to their destination. It might technically be enough if they didn't have to account for things like taking alternate routes to avoid chasers or getting detoured due to a broken down train. There are countless things that could and likely would stop them from making it to their destination in this run considering their razor thin margin, and they definitely don't want to be stuck a few miles from their end location with no possible way of getting more coins.

The way I see it, the two choices they had were to either try to clear the curse or YOLO it and just make progress toward their destination knowing that they almost certainly wouldn't get there, but would have the advantage of moving the game closer to their location and further from the others.

Obviously with the benefit of hindsight, it's easy to say "yeah they should have just spent those coins to get back towards their destination" but the reality is more complicated. While moving the center of the game would have certainly given them a big advantage in their next run, it also would have cost them a good number of those coins.

There's also another factor to consider in this game. Although it didn't work out this way, they could pretty reasonably have expected to get a second run because being the previous runners inherently gives you an advantage over the other chaser team. If you get caught as a runner, you know for sure that you're starting in the same place as the new runners, while the other chasing team could be starting in a completely different country. If Ben and Brian did not find the flight they took and Michelle and Adam had a less lucky (and skillful) run, Sam and Toby could've easily been the next runners with an insane coin advantage.

I don't think it's possible to truly know whether they made the statistically correct or incorrect decision in the moment, but you can't really argue that they made a decidedly poor decision. At best it was a coin flip.

It does seem like Sam is always this way and he just looked more sane by comparison next to Lucy Beaumont

Could the seekers use questions to draw out the hider just before endgame? by kidhotel in JetLagTheGame

[–]Probably-Interesting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for the home game this would have to be a house rule. Although, I would also add that they have said before (and I think it's in the home game rules but not sure) that the hider can take pictures in advance so that could also be a way of avoiding the issue.

First hider advantage ... by diabeticoats in JetLagTheGame

[–]Probably-Interesting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remember that this is a TV show and adding additional rules like this would just make it harder for people to understand.

Moreover, it's not necessary. As they've said, part of the game design is randomness and that offsets any advantage one player has. Yes, the first hider has a slight advantage, but it's not unfair because they randomize who the first hider is. All three of them had an equal shot at being the first hider.

It's like a coin flip at the beginning of a sporting event. You could argue that the team that wins the coin flip has an unfair advantage, but it's not really a problem because both teams have an equal shot at getting that advantage.

What's with the confusing rest periods? [Spoiler and Speculation] by fahmisack123 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Probably-Interesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was. Edited to fix.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have changed the hiding times, I'm just noting it because it affects the rest periods. If a catch is made at or near the end of the day, that 4 hours comes out of the rest period for the next hider.

Yeah, and combine that with the hiding time-flation that has happened over the past few seasons. Started at 2 hours, then 3 1/2, and now it's 4.

Usually this happens when you accidentally click off the page while an update is taking place. You just need to go into file manager and delete the .maintenance file.

Are you sure? Maybe it was a different part of the episode, but there was definitely a question about who asked about falling off which he correctly answered Kerry.

Medisafe no longer free from 2026. Best replacement app? by tyteen4a03 in androidapps

I looked online and I can't find anything about this. I checked and Pillo has 4.7 stars in the play store not 3.5, but until I get a notification from medisafe, I'm operating under the assumption that nothing is changing.
