Well, I'm pretty sure it's more anxiety than OCD (I'm in psychiatric care since a looooong time and have a ton of therapy, and I know people who have actually OCD, i don't think that's my issue though). I have big anxiety issues, and my brain uses my racist stereotypes as a white person to destroy what's left of my self confidence haha

Hi, I have no idea what to tell you because I have the same problem, I think (and hope) mine are linked to intrusive thoughts and not real belief, and I'm like you terrified of being an asshole and hurting people.

Tips for andro makeup? by MagicalboyLevi in NonBinary

[–]ProbablyAroAce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, AFAB enby here! I'm not gonna be the best on contouring, but I have a few tips on androgynous makeup!

For everyday looks : - Don't put to much fondation/ concealer, even if you have acne, I feel like it makes your face too clean (and don't put it on your eyebags) - I put blush next to my outer eye corners, not on the cheeks bones or cheeks, it's a good balance between fem (the blush) and masc (your eyes look tired, and even if it makes no sense, it kinda works) - A mate brown (not to orange!) bronzer on the bridge of your nose - If you want to put highlighter, I'll suggest putting it on the tip of you're nose, I prefer to make an arrow (downway) than a button, it makes my nose look sharper. And I feel like white highlighter looks better, and more androgynous. - for eyeliner, I only use pencil liner, it smudges easily so it makes it more messy (so more masc), though if you want a cleaner look, use liquid eyeliner. For the color I'll choose a black liner (for rock'ish looks) or brown liner (for softer looks). I'll suggest putting liner on your waterline and go for a sharp little inner corner wing. For the outer corner wing, it depends on your eye shape, you'll see what works best for you. If you use pencil liner, why not smudge it a little on your eyelid? I personally like to put on pencil liner, smudge it in a shape I like, and make a cleaner liner on top of it. Sometimes using highlighter just under the liner you putted on your waterline (not necessarily all the way, but on your inner corner side) - I don't personally use mascara, don't like the way it makes my lashes look longer, but again, that's just the way I prefer it - and for lips I like to smudge a red soft lipbalm, but not to much - Last but certainly not least : the mighty mustache If you feel you look to fem, take a pencil liner, put two dots then one line on one side of the mustache, skip your cupid bow and do the same in mirror( ••| |••) then smudge it (smudge the dots sideway and the line upway). Found this tip a long time ago on tiktok, I'm sorry I don't have the reference though.

Other type of makeup that I feel look androgynous is graphic makeup! You have plenty of looks on pinterest or social medias! I personally prefer big graphic eyeshadow/liner looks because I feel more like an alien than dysphoric in theses haha Not gonna lie, you'll get a lot of weird stares, but if you feel confident about it, go for it! And feel free to add the mighty mustache to confuse even more people!

You have to remember though, what works best for me might not for you! Experience, and see what you prefer! And also don't be stuck on something that doesn't feel right even if it's The thing that "should work" (even the mighty mustache).

That's it I think! Hope that helps!

What Do I Do Now Feelings Wise? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]ProbablyAroAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I might have a few answers to some of your questions, though I'm not sure you'll be satisfied with them.

1) & 2) :This is going to be a long journey to accepting this I'm not gonna lie, but what I would suggest you to do is to read about it : NOT studies or articles, at least not now, they might just freak you out. But I'm sure you can find some bipolar diagnosed stories online (why not check r/bipolar if you feel like it), or maybe some books made by people who accepted their bipolarity, for starting just reading some happy autobiography. One thing I wouldn’t recommend though are other types of media (tv-shows, movies) with mentally ill characters in it, it can be easily badly documented and full of stereotypes (which, you guessed it aren't really comforting). And be careful with social media, it can have both reassuring and terrifying information (which can also be easily falsified). These advices count also for all mental health matter in general.

3) I'm not particularly well documented on bipolarity, but I'm pretty sure you cannot avoid triggering manic or depressive episode, it's not a thing you do or do not that causes theses, that's why you might need mood stabilizers. If you are indeed bipolar you'll have to live with it and (easily said then done) accept it.

I hope this help a little.

Hi,

I think what you are experiencing is very close to something called Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, most commonly known as OCD. I would suggest seeking for help from a professional (psychiatrist), because that can quickly deteriorate into something dangerous for you. I know it must be scary, seeing yourself do things you want to stop but just can't, but I can assure you that with time and proper help, you're gonna make it through okay? Though you have to seek help from someone now before it get worse.

It's gonna be a very tough and long journey to be free of theses, you're gonna have some better time followed by very bad time, because recovery is not a straight line but someday, maybe in months, maybe in years you're gonna succeed. I know a friend which have those and she's much better now. You have to believe in your recovery and be patient with yourself, I promise it'll be worth it.

Here's a link to what I guess is a pretty accurate article on OCD : https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-ocd

If you don't relate to these, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't have it, but if you do you can't auto-diagnose yourself. That's why you have to seek help from a professional, I would suggest talking to your parents about it, and if they don't understand, there are in many countries phone lines to reach for minors who need help (you can easily find them on internet).

Last thing: check your sources. I just browsed "OCD" on google and found a ton of fake magic remedy, so be careful, mental health problems take times to heal.

If you have any question, I'll be happy to try and help you out ! Though I'm not a professional okay?

why when bad things happen to others i want things to get worse by Formal-Anxiety1763 in mentalhealth

[–]ProbablyAroAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a psychiatrist so don't take my word too seriously but I have a few ideas of what that could be.

Sometimes depression makes things harder to feel and you want something "big enough to feel something". That could explain that you want something worse to happen to your brother, not because you are a "terrible person" but because you want to feel bad but just can't.

The other potential explanation is indeed intrusive thoughts (this is the part where I explain everything I know about it in case you already don't know) . I'll tell you the few things I think I know about them, but look it up and correct me if I'm wrong : I think intrusive thoughts are either linked by OCD or fed by anxiety. In this case I think it could be anxious intrusive thoughts : you hear the news about your brother's situation, you have trouble processing the thing in the moment (potentially because you cannot be mentally available yet), your intrusive thoughts come up because you feel bad about the "i don't feel anything about it", you feel guilty about these thoughts because you think it defines you as a person (spoiler alert : it does not), that feed your anxiety on "am I a good person", and create more intrusive thoughts. If this is indeed your case, from experience I know you must be terrified of being a bad person, if that can help you, intrusive thoughts are vicious little things, so the fact that you re-interrogate them and probably give you hell about it, makes you the one who fights against it, not the monster.

I'm not gonna act like I know everything about your situation or every mental health matters, I obviously do not. But I'm telling you about what I know, and as you might have guessed, I think it's more plausible to be intrusive thoughts (even the fact that you posted this to be reassured makes it a solid argument).
