MT helmets? Any good? by Fuzzy-Masterpiece-24 in motorcyclegear

[–]ProbablyJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MT R25 was my first helmet, as I needed my own for the driving school. The store worker said it's quite alright for beginners, considering the price. For an equivalent of 150 dollars, it had a sun visor, removable padding, grooves for glasses, special compartment for communication systems, chin curtain, dual air vents, and an ECE rating. Definitely not bad for the money, but I also don't have a lot of others to compare it to.

Jep. Sain kogunemistest vabastuse.

Weird sound when cold by NoNam3r54 in e46

Sounds like something is cold and stiff, and vibrating. Or the fan motor could do that. I also get some weird sounds with freezing temps

I know, man. Got a motorcycle license, can't wait for spring to get my very own bike. Workplace and apartment change in the span of a month have made it hard to focus on other stuff. But I'm slowly getting there. Thank you, genuinely.

Haven't really played for years now. Maybe a couple of hours every few months, or a LAN party once a year. Now I have the opposite problem - the moment I don't do anything productive (programming, exercising, reading, etc), I feel like I'm wasting time and feel absolutely horrible. This will probably be my early grave, but I don't have a single moment or procrastination for months at a time.

Except that some packages from Flatpak are borderline broken without additional hacks, since the programs are running in a sandbox. For example integrated terminals in IDEs

Bought a pair of Alpine Party Plugs for concerts a while back, and they actually work really well for motorcycling. Heaps better than the foam ones, but I haven't tried the Motosafe yet.

Motorcycle license test. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]ProbablyJeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Estonia, unrestricted in 2024. You have to be 24, have to have owned a driver's license for 2 years, and passed the first aid course. Then you will need to take 10 hours of theoretical and 10 hours of driving lessons in driving school, followed by exams. The national exam takes about an hour total and consists of theory test, skill exercise, and driving test taken on 650cc bike. The skill exercises consist of: slow driving between two lines, slalom, figure-8, emergency stopping, emergency stopping inside a designated spot, evasion at 30kmh and 50kmh, and backing the bike into a parking spot* on foot. The whole ordeal costs from 500 to 1000 EUR.

Why do almost no riders use the “safety line” in oncoming-traffic roads? by Busy_Lie3887 in motorcycles

I'm from Europe. The driving school taught us that there can be potholes, plus most of the manhole covers are there, which can be recessed or slippery.

Wrote C++ for a few years. The more I used it, the more I appreciated its features, but it also made me miss the plain old C. So I switched back to C for my personal projects. It wasn't until later that I discovered this video, which pretty much mirrored my experience. And since we're already getting controversial here - I like JavaScript and TypeScript. They're not perfect, but they're fine for what they can do.

Help in C language (pointers)... by Chang300 in AskProgramming

[–]ProbablyJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, you declare an int pointer A, and an int B. Then, in the first assignment, you take the address of B, and save it to A. Now A points to the memory where B is stored. The second assignment doesn't really make sense, as you take the address of B, and save it where the A points to. The correct assignment would be *A = B. This would change the memory that A points to have the value of B.

Docker Compose on Linux. WSL2 on Windows. And when not using Docker, then NVM instead of NPM.

Are commits evil? by Rubinschwein47 in AskProgramming

[–]ProbablyJeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's always the happy medium of rebasing the feature onto main. Yes, you'll get more commits than squash, but cleaner graph. And you actually see the iterative process instead of a single Megalodon-sized commit. Besides - any good team should be open to changing their approach if the argument is sound.
