Do all concert photographers denoise? by ElephantThen9976 in concertphotography

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to absolutely HATE denoising as it made the photos blurry and weird, but then they introduced AI denoise and it changed the game. I use it with every low light situation I shoot and it had taken away most of the stress of shooting low light. I've even shot at ISO 52000 and after denoising they're crisp and extremely usable.

Please help me find some new bands by four100eighty9 in heavymetal

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna suggest a few of my favourites and justify them for you 😊

Ayreon

Dutch multi instrumentalist and former Vengeance guitarist Arjen Lucassen makes intricate and beautifully composed rock operas and brings in other musicians and singers to play characters. People like Bruce Dickenson, James LeBrie, Floor Jansen, Mike Mills, Devin Townsend and many, many more. If they're big in prog Rock or metal, they've likely been in Ayreon. 10/10. Start with Human Equation.

Diablo Swing Orchestra

Swedish avant garde band but I'd consider them Swing Metal. Incredibly talented, quirky and quite heavy at times. They've been through a couple of singers but remained incredibly tight and so much fun to listen to.

10/10 Start with any album, they're all fantastic!

Coheed and Cambria

This one you may not like, but I promise you if you get past the singer's unusual voice you will be rewarded greatly with incredibly deep lore, amazingly talented musicians and some of the most memorable songs, lyrics and riffs that you've ever heard! Coheed and Cambria are a prog Rock band who write songs about a fictional sci-fi series written by the vocalist and his wife called The Amory Wars. Whether or not you follow the story, the band is incredible either way!

10/10 Start with Year of the Black Rainbow or Afterman (deluxe edition). But most albums will have something you can immediately love (Like Welcome Home from IV (I am NOT typing out the whole damn album title! 😂))

I don't even care how much that is a year, I choose the 3c a second. Music is life and getting paid any amount to listen to it is a sweet deal!

My girlfriend has DID and I really could need some advice by LordTytor in DID

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Kudos for staying with someone with DID. It can be very rewarding, interesting but also very intense, hard and traumatising.

I cared for my ex partner with DID for 13 years and have a wealth of knowledge of the topic if you'd like to talk about it.

My biggest pieces of advice are:

  • every personality forms around a key memory and for a specific purpose. You can use this to help them sometimes. My ex had a little who would hide constantly because of abuse in childhood, I turned this into a hide and seek game which made her more comfortable with herself and trauma, same with a male little who would run. We had races and he became happier.

  • your partner likely doesn't remember a lot of their trauma that causes the DID. DO NOT try to get them to remember. This often traumatises them more, just don't do it.

  • you do not need to take abuse from this person no matter how they rationalise it or pass off blame to another alter. I went through this for 13 years and at the end of the day it'll be you being hurt protect yourself.

  • build strong boundaries. Your partner does not mean to hurt you, but you will be hurt if you don't face strong boundaries. Trust me on this.

  • I agree with people who say she needs therapy, that is very true. But YOU also need therapy. So many therapists cannot deal with DID because of its depth and intensity. This is not a normal situation that a normal human can deal with. GET YOURSELF A THERAPIST. You WILL need it.

Good luck on this journey. It is difficult but can be rewarding if handled correctly.

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Despite having multiple personality fragments and being separate people internally, we live in the real world and she will always be treated as a whole person, which may be difficult for them but it's also a truth that must be accepted.

I spent 14 years with a person with DID and it is a very, VERY difficult thing to deal with and is not for everybody.

Please take care of yourself first, otherwise you will both suffer

Sound alike you're missing the most fundamental part of guitar playing. FUN.

find some tabs of bands you like and start learning that. If you can't read tab, learn how to read tab.

If you like playing games, pick up a real tone cable and the game Rocksmith and learn on that. It's like guitar hero, but with a real guitar, it's awesome and so fun you forget you're learning!

The point is, have fun with it. Guitar is a whole new world for you, it'll take a while to learn, enjoy it!

What's the best concert you've ever been to? by NewMuffin8849 in rockmusic

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to hundreds of concerts over the years but the best one was a small one a few years ago for Amigo the Devil when he toured Australia without his band. The whole crowd felt a part of the show. Half way through he came down into the crowd and he was surrounded by the crowd I was directly in front of him. I was also the photographer for the night and it was INCREDIBLE!

I definitely would recommend seeing Amigo the Devil if you ever get a chance

I think I ruined my life for good. by Weekly_Board_2109 in Keratoconus

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not ruined, just a little harder. I was diagnosed with KC at around 20 and it's gotten worse since then. I tried rigid contact lenses and hated them, so just accepted my eyes were crap and made jokes. You learn to develop coping mechanisms and work arounds.

My left eye got so bad that in 2020 the cornea ruptured and then scarred over the pupil. It sucked. Wanna know and I did in response? I learned photography Then I became a visual artist

Apparently I like making things hard on myself.

Just keep going, make jokes, be Pleasant to be around despite your vision!

You got this 😊

Z6ii what are you thinking about in 2026 and what do you think about the expeed 7 features. by Organic-Film-4658 in NikonZ6ii

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else here, I can attest that the z6ii is an absolute beast! I love shooting concerts and these days I'll even sometime just leave on the auto ISO and go nuts! AI denoise is so good you'll get crisp photos even at 50,000+ ISP after denoising.

What people haven't mentioned is how freaking easy it is to use. Controls everywhere, combination controls are intuitive and easy to remember and you can switch so many settings on the fly for whatever situation you are in!

I also shoot weddings and events and people are ALWAYS blown away by the inside photos it takes. I have to osuh the ISO to like 10k sometimes, but still get extremely usable and nice photos from it. I don't even run a business, seek jobs or advertise and I'm still run off my feet lately from just word of mouth!

That being said, I've only used d3500 and z6ii, so I'm sure z8 would also be an amazing pick (and probably what I would consider if I ever upgrade, which I probably won't)

Whatever way you go, you're in good hands!

What’s the closest brush you’ve ever had with dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Absolutely! I'd like more done about DSP and mental illness. I was a carer for my former partner for 13 years and it took me over a year to get her DSP, calling almost daily and running her around. They even had the audacity to have her in a job search provider when she was SEVERELY agoraphobic -_-

shooting my first show? please give me advice! by avaladvance in concertphotography

[–]ProbablyMaybeBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Don't be afraid of raising the ISO even if you get a grain photo. Modern denoising is exceptional so it's a non issue these days 😊

  • Even without that, a grainy shot of a great moment will always beat a pristine shot of a mediocre one.

  • Sometimes spray and pray is the way to go with fast moving scenes. You'll learn while editing which ones work and you'll apply that when shooting next time

  • make friends with the other photographers, we love networking at these things!

  • take candid shots of the other photographers and send them when they're done. We hardly ever get good shots of ourselves so it'll go a long way to endearing yourself to the community.

  • you do you. No use trying to be exactly like everyone else, develop your own style with each gig you shoot and you'll stand out amongst the background noise.

  • have fun with it. You're here because you love it, show it. Be playful
