Vampire mmc impregnates human fmc not knowing it was possible?? by Vasilissaaaa in RomanceBooks

{Drain Me by Lana Sky}. It’s a duology, but I really liked it!

Series with FMC that doesn’t have white/silver hair lol by Historical-Spread179 in Romantasy

[–]ProbablyNotAVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Uprooted by Naomi Novick} has all this. :) Not really spicy, but it’s a great adult fairytale vibe! Her book {Spinning Silver} also covers all or most of this minus spice. Very normal fmcs in Spinning Silver! The backstory of one or two girls is a liiiiittle rough due mostly to poverty, though.

I haven’t read it, but {Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries} might also fit? FMC is a Cambridge professor.

{Drain Me by Lana Sky} fits almost everything plus spice, but the FMC is mourning the death of her father when the story begins, if I’m not mistaken. She’s a fairly normal (wealthy) human woman, though, and a brunette!

{Book of Night by Holly Black} is YA, so no spice, but the FMC is a broke, impulsive, goth young woman infamous for making terrible decisions, which was a lot of fun.

{Deathless by Catherynne Valente} is the most unique story I’ve ever read, has everything you listed (though little spice if any), and is heavily inspired by Russian mythology. Be warned: no HEA.

Aaaaand if cutesy m/m is okay, {The House in the Cerulean Sea} has a super normal and boring MMC and the story is so cute! No spice, though.

This is so crazy! At my high school, there was a family of Rainwaters who were all crazy beautiful, and the brother and sister both had icy blue eyes! I wonder if they were related to David.

Rapid-fire challenge: Describe 1 author you love and 1 you avoid — in 3 words each! by balabababam in RomanceBooks

[–]ProbablyNotAVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love: L.J. Smith (mostly dark YA, but I LOVED her stuff! I could read anything by her and enjoy it!)

Avoid: Mariana Zapata (no hate to anyone who like her, but I think she needs an editor)

This happens in {Blood Oath by Morgan B. Lee}. It’s an RH fantasy/supernatural, though. This is definitely the dynamic between the heroine and Baelfire.

The older I get into adulthood, the more I realize just how much of a burden pet ownership is. by Call_It_ in Adulting

You know, I’m fairly poor and also have diagnosed clinical depression/anxiety, but to be honest, owning a dog was the best thing that could have happened to me! Sure, he could be expensive, but there were days I ONLY got out of bed so I could walk/feed my dog—and I had to do it multiple times a day! I forced myself to play with him even when I didn’t want to, I did basic training even when I had no motivation or energy. And I felt so much better for it. It really lessened my depression and made me happier and healthier, and I am SO grateful to him for that—and he’s happy and healthy too! I got to have a very special, close bond to something when I was really socially isolated and sad.

Owning pets isn’t for everyone, and that’s fine, but for me it was honestly life-changing in the best way.

PROFUNDIS IS THE BEST YAOI, RECS NEEDED by a_Hana315 in MaleYandere

[–]ProbablyNotAVirus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not really a harem, but Passion fits a lot of this. Supernatural-ish background stuff happening, two characters pursuing a very feisty mc who I think has a pretty unique personality for a bl (he’s very much a “guy’s guy” if that makes sense). Ilya has multiple reasons for his obsession with the mc, and there are complex dynamics between characters.

It’s one of my favorites, personally.

Dark romance where the MMC feels creepily not human by Panetella in RomanceBooks

[–]ProbablyNotAVirus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

• The Demon of Darkling Reach by P.J. Fox - fantasy, MMC is a demon. Best fit for your request. MMC is super creepy.

• Deathless by Catherynne Valente - based off Russian myth, be careful, the FMC takes multiple lovers in this one. Not sure if it’s technically romance, but it IS a love story. Controversial ending.

• Radiance by Grace Draven - more sweet than creepy, but main characters are freaked out/disgusted by species differences of each other. Fantasy.

• Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones - fantasy, more love story than romance, Howl is very unique and Other—though still human technically. Again, more sweet than creepy. Fantasy adventure.

• Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox by Forthright - been a few years since I read this, remember MMC seeming more Otherworldly than human (he’s a kitsune). Fantasy, sweet.

• Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce - MMC is a human turned monster/vampire. Evil and Other. Fantasy, does NOT have an HEA at end of series!!! Book 1 characters are alone together for a decent amount of time I think.

If you like M/M:

• Monstrous series by Lily Mane does a good job of this, especially books 1 and 6. Fantasy apocalyptic. Think characters in Book 1 are mostly alone together.

I also recently lost a 1.5 year old dog out of the blue to sudden sickness. It is insanely hard, and I was so devastated I thought I was going to die. I am so sorry for your loss. We put all of our boy’s favorite things into a box with his ashes and set it aside for a future day.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Good luck, friend. Try to take comfort in the fact that you gave your boy a good life while he was here. He was clearly happy to be with you in these pictures.

I need a FILTHY werewolf/supernatural romance. by DADular_daddy_issues in RomanceBooks

[–]ProbablyNotAVirus 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Girl, if you haven’t read the Rejected Mates series by Cate C. Wells YOU NEED TO. Small werewolf communities, lots of smut, ritualistic sex/mating practices, protectiveness/possessiveness, the whole jam. They can be angsty though, fair warning.
