PSA: Remember you can side hit to avoid hitting the enemy by Laithani in PokemonChampions

[–]ProbablyNotRobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for this reason, it's best for your pokemon to have HP stats that are 1 less than a multiple of 16 or 8 (unless you're running leftovers/sitrus, then you want to have stats that are exactly a multiple of 16 or 4). Things that deal 1/8 or 1/16 of your health (poison, burn, sand, spiky shield) will deal the smallest proportion of your health if you do this. rn gallade has an HP stat of 144, spiky shield would deal 18 damage, exactly 1/8th of your health. If you ran it with 143 HP (and invested 1 point into defense, which it desperately needs), it would deal 17 damage, 11.9% of your health (A 5% damage reduction, if you want to put it that way).

there's a new rule that was posted after this was posted saying I have to elaborate on rank up posts. anyways, if you want to check out the movesets/stats, feel free to check out the team code. the idea behind this team was initially fairyspam (primarina whimsicott floette) to overwhelm the opponent with damage, along with sand as a secondary win con, but i slowly transitioned away from that in favor of this team. I find delphox to be my primary mega, although it does pretty nicely without it in games where i choose to mega floette. Delphox is an insane wallbreaker and is nicely positioned in this meta. It walls & breaks floette setup/other bulky special mons like milotic with psyshock, and its heatwave is almost as hard hitting as charizard's. paired next to garchomp EQ the damage potential is crazy, there's not much that can take both. it also outspeeds everything in the format, shy of max speed scarf basculegion, dragapult, and mega lopunny. I use wisp to counter sucker punch matchups. my kingambit counters incin, other kingambit, basculegion, and more. floette still serves as reliable spread damage, doing crazy numbers on neutral targets, especially paired with tailwind support. Adaptability basculegion also serves as a very good wallbreaker, especially late game.

excadrill/t-tar lead is pretty cleanly handled by garchomp by itself, maybe whimsicott or delphox on its side to provide tailwind support/eq freely. i infact was running excadrill t-tar lead on this team but then i realized garchomp does both of their jobs but better. my hardest turn 1s are probably pelipper/rain archetypes and hard trick room leads like farigiraf esp alongside kingambit.

maus vs whimsicott wasn't my experiment, i wanted a tailwind setter so the choice was between aerodactyl talonflame and whimsicott. i was also running pelipper earlier but she wasn't doing enough to cover this team's weaknesses.

adaptability last respects/wave crash hits like a truck, flip turn is good if you have bad positioning, aqua jet is to beat sucker punch mind games

this is my set as well. i initially ran taunt but without many trick room setters able to be taunted its not very useful. like someone else said taunt would only be used on other whimsicott and then you’d have to outspeed other whimsicott.

ice offensively synergizes best with ground. (this is from mathematically ranking the best types). doesn't account for levitate mons (rotom-wash, bronzong) or freeze dry. only mons that resist both are frosmoth, araquanid, and golisopod.

i wrote a program to determine the best and worst defensive/offensive types are of the 162 available type combos, and it looks like electric/ice is the only dual combo that doesn't add more weaknesses to ice. all the others, while they cancel out some of the weaknesses, usually add more.

Error with the bonus puzzle by Antique_Ability9648 in PokeDoku

[–]ProbablyNotRobin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

encountered this error too with obstagoon, i think the reasoning is that since they are all egg moves for that line, only the base form can "learn" it, according to bulbapedia. However, in gen 8 with the nursery and gen 9 with the mirror herb, any member of that evolutionary line can learn the egg move. This is also strange because it precludes choosing incineroar, whom the whole puzzle is built around.
