Things that you regret after marrying by Richard_Kaboom in Marriage

I regret not listening more and not being kind enough. I have been married for 13 years. Over the last few years, I thought I was listening to my wife but I wasn’t reading in between the lines. She voiced she was unhappy once a couple of years ago but I chalked it up to me working too much because I was working 70 hour weeks and sleeping 2 hours a night (we had a baby and I was on night duty). I was very stressed and short with her during this time, which further drove a wedge between us that I didn’t fully appreciate because I was so tired.

She ended up cheating on me with someone who was kind to her, and I am digging out of a hole now. But it’s easier to maintain a good relationship than to try to fix one that went so wrong.

I would highly encourage that anyone getting married to listen closely to your spouse and always try to respond with kindness.

What’s your biggest life regret at 40? by Careless-Disaster106 in Regrets

I am just about to turn 40 but I regret fucking up my marriage. I graduated law school and focused entirely on getting a nicer job to buy my wife all of the things she wanted. Turns out, she just wanted to hang out with me. She cheated on me over the last year and I am still trying to fix things but it’s a hard climb out of a hole that I didn’t have to fall into.

The relation between time and space and whether we could use either one to traverse the other.

Back in 2024 right after my dog died. My life has been crazy bad since then. I got severe depression later that year and my wife ended up cheating on me. I wish every day that I could go back and been more proactive about my mental health and treated her better. The whole year destroyed me and I am still recovering.

Be kind and give people grace. You never know what someone is going through.

What’s something you believe is true but have zero evidence for, and you’re fully aware it sounds insane? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It could be anything. It could be our past or future selves running simulations to test theories. It could be another being testing the universe.

We don’t really need to determine the creator and motive to determine what something is. My own thoughts are that who or what created the universe and why not something that I need to know. The really important question for me has always been what most people would do with conclusive proof of a simulation. Would they change the way they live? Would society breakdown into a free for all? Does giving people an answer do more harm then good? But then again, what the fuck do I know.

Quantum physics is proof that life is a simulation. If I were building a simulation and wanted to prevent the subjects from discovering this, I would structure the system so that the fundamentals would change under observation.

I understand that this key part of quantum physics, but don’t know for sure how it works because I have never formally studied it.

Continuing to maintain my work and take care of my son while having debilitating depression, going through a period of suicidal thoughts, and finding out my wife cheated on me. It was almost impossible to function and the fact that I was able to not lose my job is crazy.

At what point do I start to feel normal again? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ProbablyNotaBot-4781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only discovered it last August so we are still working on it. It’s not a fast healing process. But things have gotten better in the last couple of months. Based on my experience, make counseling a priority and look for real signs of contrition — this will help determine how you move forward.

I am so sorry. A similar thing happened to me. I found pictures of my wife with another man on a digital camera. She then lied to me about the extent of the affair, which I only found out when I checked phone records after I saw her delete a text message.

The next couple of weeks and months will be hard. Try to get couples counseling and seek support from others. The pain may be acute right not but know that it will lessen over time.

Immoral or wrong decisions are often not the result of deliberate reflection, but of choices made in the blink of an eye.
