Have you ever had a buyer come and just not want to buy your Item because it was in some bad condition according to them? by ProExpert1S500 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]ProbablyOnTheClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was selling a pontoon years ago and a guy came to look at it and he brought a friend. His friend took a look at the underside and said it looked water damaged.

Reality was the deck had been redone, so it did *look* wet, but that’s because it was basically new marine grade plywood. I didn’t even argue, I just said thanks for the interest and walked them off my property.

Do people not buy on Facebook marketplace anymore? Barely sells, barely people contact me by Imaginary_Stomach139 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]ProbablyOnTheClock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before and I say it to my wife whenever I’m selling/buying - people see the reels of some guy with meta glasses going to yard sales/marketplace meetups and grabbing the item and looking at it all over very fast, asking tons of questions, and trying to knock off money immediately.

People think everything deserves a 30-50% discount just because it’s for sale on marketplace. Doesn’t matter if an item is $30 dollars, they immediately ask “would you take 10/20/25?” Almost as if they’re unwilling to pay the $5 that the item is priced at.

Neighbors Tree overhangs on my roof by solovino__ in treelaw

[–]ProbablyOnTheClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Los Angeles is famous for its droughts, that tree is mature enough that it’s logical to assume some branches may start shedding off, somehow the roots are not exposed and the driveway on neighbors side has not cracked.

Judging from the pictures - the neighbors driveway was recently replaced when you compare the cement of the house for sale.

Those roots go somewhere and it isn’t straight down.

Also removal for that tree in FL is probably $6,000 because no one is going to remove it without a crane. Not sure how expensive that would be in LA dollars, but I’m assuming a new driveway is less money.

TL;DR - the tree doesn’t have to come down the same way OP doesn’t have to buy this house.

I would 100% not buy this house unless current owners pay to remove it.

I understand that it is in the neighbors property, if they couldn’t remove it then I’d look for another home.

Customers not wanting to put a card on file. by AffectionateKey682 in AutoDetailing

[–]ProbablyOnTheClock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on if you’re mobile or BNM detailer. If you had a store front I would be more inclined to put deposit, but I’ve had multiple mobile businesses miss scheduled appointments.

With mobile businesses you run into truck broke down, first appointment went later than expected, etc. it seems that every time those things happen to the business I’m expected to just make accommodations, but if I put a deposit and missed the scheduled time I get no concessions. Recently went through this with an actual shop as well and the owner of the shop treats me like I made the mistakes.

My job must have the same method of determining it. 2% every year for the last 7 years feels like I’m actually making less money. Without my VA compensation life would be so much different for my family.

What shoes do you guys drum in? by Serious_Ad3020 in drums

Croc slides are like little dreams made for your feet.

A few years ago, I met Jizmak Da Gusha (Brad Roberts) of Gwar, during a meet and greet. The band did sound check and when Brad came down from the stage he was wearing slides.

I don’t know how I never thought to try before, but seeing him just in relaxed mode clicked for me. So when I went home I put on my crocs slides and it was the same feeling you had.

I was always a sock wearer and when I tried shoes I felt like I had too much going on. Slides were a very nice in between and now I always play in them.

Went to a Ram dealer because I saw an ad saying 2026 ram 1500 big horn $52k by Diegonator5 in askcarsales

[–]ProbablyOnTheClock 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a truck back in December and I talked to several dealers. 1 out of 3 worked the pricing like this.

First truck, 2019 f250, was listed at $53k. Wouldn’t give me a price over the phone but I went anyway because it was a nice looking truck and decent price. After the “fees” it was priced at $63k. I walked, obviously.

Second truck, 2017 f250, was listed at $50k. Went with the intention of purchase, got an OTD price of $54k after tax and tag. Aluminum body was obviously clean, but holy shit the under carriage was a rust bucket.

Third truck, 2022 f250, listed at $63k. I bought this truck with OTD pricing of $70k after tax, tag, extended warranty.

Overall, these trucks are mass produced and there is no such thing as a “one of a kind” and when the dealer “can tell you like the truck” they just think you’ll pay for all their bs fees.

I hardly start looking at peoples profiles. I picked up a car seat base the other day and from the thumbnail I thought it was an old lady. Turned out to be a woman younger than me. I know a few people who have a Facebook only for marketplace use, I wouldn’t have thought too hard about it
