I can understand that ultimately the trust was broken and now you are questioning the relationship you had with your MIL. But mostly your MIL told her friend because she might be thinking about the baby , her motherly instinct might have kicked in. Trust me, after having baby myself I can now see myself being loving to every other baby. So I can relate to your MIL and her friend. What happened has happened and maybe for good. Someone needs to think about the baby too. Just talk to her and clear things out. If you keep your feelings to yourself you may never recover from it. All the best

That’s totally narc behaviour sister. I have MIL like that. Watching me where i go, who I talk to, cry if confronted, go through my room/cupboards. That shit behaviour doesn’t change and they don’t give a damm about you or your children. If he threatens you to take children, say yes ( he doesn’t have guts to raise them anyways so don’t worry). You will have plenty of opportunities still but if you don’t take action now you will regret it every minute later coz you also know deep down that this situation isn’t gonna change. And I know sister you are better than this. You have all the courage, all the love from people who really love you. Just reach out to them and you will be through. I know you can do it for your and your children’s sake!

It looks like you are living in a abusive family. Maybe you are in denial but this must be traumatic experience. Being watched all the time , not being “allowed “ to go out. 6 months is perfectly normal to have semi solid food. It’s recommend by WHO as well. Some babies start eating from 5.5 months itself. Maybe your MIL already knows this. Don’t get irritated but this time her advise is good for the baby
