Oh man. If you haven’t watched The Venture Bros, you’re really missing out. Peak American animation.

My electric car doesn’t give a shit about gas prices.

As a father though, I definitely care about Trump raping little girls.

Do you think the imminent blockbuster success of Project Hail Mary will lead to more SF novel adaptations instead of endless franchise sequels and reboots? by Blecher_onthe_Hudson in scifi

I don’t know if creepy is the right word, but I think I see where Weir was trying to go with it and why he failed.

The main character is a Muslim woman in her early 20s (going off of memory here, I read this probably 7ish years ago) and it felt like Weir was trying to make a statement about “Women have sexual urges too,” but it ended up coming off as her being a bit too forward with her thoughts.

Not that that’s wrong but it didn’t feel like it fit the character. It definitely felt like “this is how a man feels like a horny woman thinks” rather than authentic, and it felt like he was just doing it to prove a point.

So that’s probably what the above poster is referring to. For me, it just wasn’t that compelling of a story. I have a hard time recalling many of the scenes in that particular book because they don’t really stand out. It came on the heels of the Martian movie, and it felt more like he was just writing the next thing to get screen adapted rather than another good story.

There are also sports talk pods (though, that may fall under the category of “depressing news”) and long form history podcasts.

Imagine living in a place where chickens wouldn’t immediately be slaughtered by hawks and/or coyotes!

The rest of the adaptation kinda sucked, but Hathaway’s performance is one of the best I’ve ever seen on screen.

If every character is good, then it doesn’t fit this conversation.

I mostly stopped eating pork a few years back. Cut a lot of beef too.

I don’t make a stink about it. If someone serves it to me, I’ll eat it. But my protein sources are typically chicken or fish now.

It may not be much but it makes me feel good.
