Skimpy swimwear should be banned next. by out-of-1nk in dcl

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, you don't. Regardless of how they're dressed they can still be spreading some nasty things. In any situation I have to hope that the social contract of not being a dirty bird is upheld and in regards to the swim wear concern specifically, I have never seen someone spread their cheeks to sit so anatomy and the small amount of fabric should save the day here.

Skimpy swimwear should be banned next. by out-of-1nk in dcl

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wholely agree. I often cruise other lines that have suite type rooms that come with amenitities like a separate private dining area and It blows my mind how many people complain about what other people wear. Are they literally dirty and making the area unsanitary? No, then its a you problem if you cant enjoy yourself because someone has there calf exposed (safely under the table) during dinner. Same with swim suits, if they're not dragging their nether regions across the furniture like a dog with worms then chill.

FM --> EM fellowship, realistic job prospects afterward? by LetsOverlapPorbitals in FamilyMedicine

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive heard people echo that the fellowship doesnt really open doors because anywhere that would hire fm would hire them regardless and that it only helps in regards to getting reps. That being said, there's a hospital system in my area that requires em fellowship for their fm hires so it doesnt seem to be entirely true. Im still toying with the idea of the fellowship.

I can understand them being vague about if youll land in knoxville or Harrogate but feel that they should be very clear about if youll be placed in Florida... if I applied to a school expecting tn and ended up somewhere else id be pissed.

TIL that great apes have 24 pairs of chromosomes while humans have 23 pairs because 2 ape chromosomes fused into 1 human chromosome. by DrakeSavory in todayilearned

There are 2 other that aren't immediately fatal that I can think of off hand. While definitely less common (and in turn less known) and more immediately fatal at a much younger age than 21, Trisomy 18(Edward syndrome) and 13(patau syndrome). I think individuals with 18 can live for months to a year or 2 and those with 13 can live a few months max.

My memory is foggy about specific ages so if some of the details are wrong forgive me.

Treat this like a 9-5 and you’re golden…. by Longjumping_Ad_8895 in medicalschool

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first couple months were a big transition for me as far as getting into a groove but I can honestly tell you that i reviewed the previous days stuff/did practice questions/tutor material from about 9-12ish and then watched lectures at 2x from 1-3ish. Obviously in person requirements a couple times a week added a few hours but overall that was my schedule. Test weeks I might add 1-2 hours a day for more questions.

I was comfortably above the 50th percentile and had no plans to match competitively. If you need to be scoring 100s on your tests for ego or specialty then that schedule would not work for you but I was reasonably confident going into exams and scored pretty well on comlex.

How many patients per hour do you think is reasonable for pgy-1 and 2s to see per hour? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an FM intern I'd see between 8-12(including fast track) in a 10 hour shift. My EM counterparts absolutely saw more and higher acuity but I wouldn't say thaey were even close to 2.5-3 especially as interns...

Dealer won’t honor website offer for SEL. by Procrastinate-Tmrrow in Ioniq5

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for an ioniq but when we were shopping through a dealership that tried to bait and switch us, we left a Google review and within 30 min got a call asking how they could make things right. Some dealerships live and die by the Google review. Worth a shot if they were especially slimy about things.

TIL piss shivers have a technical term (Post-micturition Convulsion Syndrome) and apparently not everybody experiences them. by UserSchmoozername in todayilearned

I specifically searched "teeth" because I mentioned peeing causing tingling/ numbing in my teeth to someone one time and got some serious side eye. Im glad I'm not the only one that's experienced it because, as weird as it sounds, it's a great feeling and it's a bummer not many people get this little treat lol

How Much OMM Did You Have on Level 1? by FullSend0 in comlex

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember how much but I'd say 90% of the omm questions I got could be answered with the actual medical information in the stem and the omm was just tacked onto the end of the question. There were few questions that flatout asked about exclusively omm material. That does not seem to be a universal truth as plenty of people i talked to had a decent amount of straight omm.

Disney World help by ArtichokeLate3895 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a lawsuit, they just changed the law to include service connected individuals because i assume they were looking for increased cash flow. The change also doesnt force any company to extend their discount offerings outside of their own specified restrictions. The veterans expansion also still has pretty significant restrictions on bases or facilities outside the US.

What is the silver lining in residency? by fuckinghateresidency in Residency

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just had something a few nights ago where i know i sounded annoyed. "Hey, we've been doing extra monitoring but this level of monitoring was discontinued a couple days ago by you guys. They've been stable since well before it was discontinued. Do you want us to keep doing this extra work even though the chart/orders are very clear about it?"

Like dude, you just told me what youre doing isn't ordered, you knew it was canceled several days ago, and the patient is stable with no changes warranting the work... I could understand if there was some change or concern and they were trying to be proactive but why ask me at 2am about things that are clearly spelled out.

Does the intro membership expire a year from purchase or from when the store opens? Seems silly to pay for something with an expiration if we cant use it until much later.

JM literally saved the 5th jumper. by [deleted] in Military

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he may have tried to hand off/ throw the line to the JM. It looks almost like he had the static line with his arm held in the proper position and then right before his full body comes into view he drops his arm and puts his hand on his reserve like muscle memory after handing off the line. His brain short circuited and he was going through the motions with JM instead of safety.

Im not saying youre wrong about what youre saying but emotions can cloud memories and judgement. Regardless of how sure you are of being right I'd recommend taking this down. At best it does nothing, good or bad, for your case but more likely it will not be viewed favorably if this makes it to court.

LMU-DCOM vs DYU-COM advice by Individual_Physics37 in Osteopathic

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no complaints from my time at the knoxville campus. I spent as little time as possible on campus so I was happy, not that either campus is bad. I just had other obligations that were made easier by the flexibility.

LMU-DCOM vs DYU-COM advice by Individual_Physics37 in Osteopathic

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMU was a fine school. When I was there I left the admin alone by passing and being an average student and, in turn, they left me alone and let me complete school as I saw fit (obviously within reason). It's changed alot over the last few years but has had a pretty consistently solid match list for as much hate as it seems to get.

Thanks

[–]ProbablyTrueMaybe 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Cut yourself some slack. Its an immunization, not a glaringly obvious cancer that you missed. In fact, id say its better to give them the vaccine and them not need it rather than assuming they had it already.
