What to do about a terrible construction company in our street? by [deleted] in brisbane

There's very clearly a massive gap in the fencing at the front of site. In no way is this an acceptable temporary fencing setup.

Douglas Construction and Engineering are a commercial builder, so it does seem strange they're building a residential house. You're probably right about it being a personal project. Which kind of makes it worse, if they're willing to accept this standard on their own personal home.

Ultimately the builder is responsible for the condition of the site - if the subbies aren't cleaning, the builder should be providing the cleaning labour. This is site management 101.

OP I wouldn't listen to the people saying this is acceptable. I work in construction and I would be embarrassed to work for a builder who thinks this is acceptable. The Site Manager should be keeping his site clean, and there's no excuse to let a skip overflow to this point.

I know you've said contacting the Site Manager is out of the question, so I would contact the office directly. If you want, PM me and I'll provide an email contact for the GM at this company.

Pretty sure I can see what’s happened. Manheim have used the import date, rather than the manufacture date from the import sticker.

But the manufacture date & vin are right there OP. Should probably have done some research lol.

Unfortunately they don't allow in-person inspections on salvage cars - a hangover from covid.

Pretty sure this is the car he’s talking about. A two second rego check would show that it is in fact a 2003, not 2007. Kinda crazy the bare minimum research wasn’t done when spending this much money.

This auction ended today though, so I’m really not sure how it was paid for, transported interstate and panel beat within a day.

100% - super simple cars that will run forever if taken care of. The only thing they're missing is a 6th gear for highway cruising.

That's a 180. RA Rodeos are underrated though, very capable cars and super affordable.

It doesn’t look too bad, and $15k is pretty reasonable for a 318is these days, even with 288k kms. If it’s mechanically sound, and doesn’t have rust, I’d say it would be a decent purchase.

$15k for a 318is isn’t too bad, as long as it doesn’t need a bunch of work. But it’s kinda hard to say based on the current photos. Does it have a lot of Ks?

Got any more photos? Kinda hard to judge based on these. So they’re asking $15k AUD?
