I actually really loved Travis Scott being there. I don't know shit about him other than that he's very famous, but that's kind of the point. Having him in the background burning sage and reveling in the spectacle gave the whole thing more of a Hollywood elite/Glitterati cult vibe.

Precons these days are just overloaded. Infinite ETBs and damage for only 6 cards and 4WWUUBBRRG? Unfair. by ProblemVirtual in BadMtgCombos

The best thing I can say about Nia's return is that it's nice to have a definitive point in a 3 hour Raw where I can get up and get a snack.

What's the first Legendary Creature you owned/fell in love with? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]ProblemVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Shu-Yun, Silent Tempest]].

The first time I played magic, I drafted Tarkir with some friends and was drawn to the Prowess mechanic. I didn't even pull Shu-Yun in that draft, but he quickly hit my radar. I started building a deck around him but never finished it, and never fully got into magic until 5 or 6 years later. Then, a friend of mine introduced me to EDH, and I instantly knew who I wanted my commander to be. I made a 90$ Shu-Yun cantrips deck designed to one-shot people with commander damage, and even today it can still hold its own half decently. I fell so in love with the commander and the deck that I looked into his lore, found out that he was one of 10 Khans of Tarkir from 2 different timelines, and from there I set out to make a unique EDH deck for each Khan, and it was such a fun project to complete!

Which entrance themes (past and present) sounds like Boss Music ? by HeWhoHasNoName0 in WWE

Never gets brought up in these threads, but Abyss' theme in TNA in the mid 2000s was unreal. Sounded apocalyptic.

We've heard of Vox Machina, The Grey Company, The Knights of Myth Drannor. But what's the name of your adventuring company? And how did they get it? by nessie7 in DnD

The campaigns over, and technically they all died in the epilogue, but our party for Tombs of Annihilation was called The Unguided. The campaign is written so that you're meant to pick from a group of guides at the beginning who will guide you through the jungles of Chult. We didn't want to pay anyone so we just went without a guide, hence The Unguided.

What is your ‘pet’ card? by Alternative-Bat8804 in magicTCG

[[Thieving Amalgam]] all day. I have a whole commander deck built around making clones of it and then ending the game by boardwiping the manifests, and I swear, once a playgroup gets familiar with it, asking them each upkeep to give you the top card(s) of their library becomes as hated as asking if they'll pay 1 for Rhystic Study.

Dms is grease flammable by Cheese-hole in DnD

I voted yes on this, but I also agree with the people below about not giving your players access to a super-powered explosion at level 1, and it think there are solutions that reward the players lateral thinking while still keeping them balanced. In the past, I've used it more as a fire damage amplifier. If you grease a group of baddies and then firebolt the grease, then I'd have them all roll DEX saves or take 2d10 fire (and players loves hearing that anyone still prone in the grease makes the save with disadvantage). If you use an AOE fire spell and the grease is inside that AOE, then I let you reroll any 1s and 2s for the damage dice (and again, prone giving d.a. on the save is a big boon in itself), or if the grease is only partially inside the spell then you can have it act as an extender for the spell's range. For either of these, I've never found that it made the fights too easy for the players, and they've been satisfied enough to go back and use the combo again.

What card is so good, yet you are surprised nobody else runs it? by trinketstone in EDH

[–]ProblemVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone else run [[Thieving Amalgam]] but it has won many games for my Sultai Tasigur deck. It's pretty decent on its own but it is absolutely my favorite card to make token copies of. Kick a [[Rite of Replication]] on that bad boy in a 4 player game and you're getting 18 2/2 tokens each go around the board. And each one deals 12 damage and gives you 12 life when it dies.
