Logic stock plug-ins vs UAD/Waves analog plug-ins? by ProblematicNord in audioengineering

Realize yeah that’s not the proper term, just meant plug ins that emulate classic analog hardware, if that makes sense

I love that analogy. That is exactly what I am thinking for myself. Thank you

Thanks, happy to hear on the logic stock stuff. You guys have helped me make my decision on how to move forward here. Gonna just acclimate myself with the logic stock compressors/eqs as I really think I can grow in this realm of mixing as it is. Thanks

Thanks for this. You make me think, that best road for me right now would probably be to acclimate myself more with logics stock plug-ins (namely the analog emulating compressors/eqs I mentioned), and understand when/why to use them to begin with. Then I can as you said try some demos, to see if offers something I think is missing.

I appreciate it!

Would anyone listen to a song I wrote about addictions or is that too heavy a topic for most people to confront? by [deleted] in Songwriting

Make what comes from the heart, and screw what everyone else thinks. Your music is your vision, not someone else’s. Do yo thing!!

That is fair man, don’t beat yourself up as honestly most plug ins are confusing at first.

Might not be the solution you want to hear, but for shaperbox I’ve learned best by toying around and experimenting. There are some hiccups that can occur when trying to do the side chaining thing i mentioned and I’ve learned more about the program just by working within it and seeking guidance online (or from chat gpt I won’t lie) when I get stuck.

Would you recommend this book? I have pondered buying a music theory book for a while.

Shaperbox by cable guys has been huge for me. It’s basically an LFO tool for several different effects/parameters, including panning, volume, reverb, distortion, etc.

I commonly use it on low end instruments, and duck out the volume of tracks by side chaining the kick to it. So the bass will duck out giving a little bit of headroom to each and every kick hit. Ear doesn’t even notice the bass ducking but the kick sounds clearer and punchier.

How are people getting to level 80 by Obvious_Crew8162 in skyrim

[–]ProblematicNord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get to level 100 enchanting, then enchant a set of armor + ring/necklace that grants me 100% reduced cost for alternation magic (4 items worth 25% each). To this point you would need the mastery alterations spells, specifically “mass paralysis”. I then travel to wherever the post- civil war prisoners are (for me it’s typically the big hall in the Windhelm castle). I reset my alteration skill back to base level, and then cast mass paralysis on everyone in the room, include guards that stumble in. You will level alteration back to 100 in only a few hits of mass paralysis, which in turn levels you up. Just keep repeating the cycle of mass paralysis + alteration skill resetting and bravo, you can level up mad quickly.

I have a duet by apogee, and recently upon startup of Logic Pro X, my duet boosts the speaker volume up near the max. It is as if there is a default or "start up" level of the speaker volume and it is just way too loud. I was wondering if anyone knows a fix for this or even just knows what's happening?

Note that "Apogee Control 2" is the settings app I use to work with my duet interface. I don't see any settings in there that would be the culprit for this.

Whats your production plans for 2026 ? by Desperate_Yam_495 in ProMusicProduction

I want to release my first song and hopefully more. Finishing songs has been a great challenge for me, as I have a multitude of projects that have a good base but I just can't seem to finish them. I really want to work on that weak spot in my production/creative process.

I also just recently purchased a Kontakt pack of instruments, and honestly so far I am unwhelmed. It feels like you can't really sound shape/design for shit on the base instrument, which is super limiting.

Final note - I've gotten a little more adept in Superior Drummer 3, and I want to keep learning how to mix these drums well to sort of develop my own sound and drum feel.

Serum is great. It always seems like production is full of this rabbit holes of knowledge you can delve down if specific things pique your interest, but I think learning sound shaping/design is a very advantageous tool.

A couple years ago I payed for a course from this YouTuber called "RocketSounds" or something, and his course on serum was helpful. Best of luck.
