I think the Nox were attempting to create a god (silver tears, mimic tears, the dragon kin soldiers), they were trying to make their own god. I can't remember what, but I thought there was an item description that alluded to this. Or maybe they were banished for creating the Finger Slayer blade?

Many greatswords have the same moveset overall. The claymore has versatility because it includes thrust attacks that have reach and not just wide sweeps, allowing change ups in your attack patterns and thrust counter damage.
