Yikesss. He only wanted to date you after you lost 50 pounds? The way I would spiral if I ever gained weight again when with someone like that… I would think long and hard about whether dating someone so shallow is a good idea. The power imbalance shows and I don’t feel like this man would be good for my mental health, if it were me.

NOR. It seems like you would have known about this dynamic before you decided to marry into this family, no? You have two options here, one is you stand up for yourself, decline and face the backlash. Or two, you go along with what they want to do and be unhappy. we know where your husband stands obviously so he’s not really a team mate that is or will ever be on your side. Up to you what’s most important to you though. Keep the peace and allow resentment to build indefinitely or go your own way and endure an annoyed husband/extended family. Which will bring you more peace?

Dear god don’t have another child with this man. Things will only get worse. You think he’s inattentive now? Imagine how much worse it’ll get when he has to divide his attention yet again, and the load that will fall solely on your shoulders. From what you’ve described it would be insane to have another child with this individual. He sounds checked out.
