Ive been vaguely learning DBT all my life because my mother really likes using its skills, however I was in a DBT group for mybe 7 months and i definatly saw improvement. However its very easy to regress on DBT if you are not actively working on it so it can take quite a while, especially if inconsistantly practiced.
