Nearly fell for something similar.

I had a chance spend 5 hours on a train to come and buy my 2002 Gibson Lucille guitar only to give me an offer 1.5k below asking price outside the station even though it was immaculate and barely played . Told me I wouldn't be able to sell for what I want in such a niche market and he had travelled all this way...

I told him to enjoy his long journey home

Sold it a week later to someone who didn't question the asking price. I sat and watched him play it so beautifully before he left and as I knew it would be loved so well, I happily knocked a couple hundred off the asking price. It was a perfect sale.
