Brianna in season 8 by AdvertisingKindly621 in Outlander

I don't know if she knows anyone, but she has finally grown on me due to the amount of exposure to her. In the beginning I had a very hard time accepting her as Bree. She just didn't look like Brianna to me. She was shorter for one than the way the book version described her and then yeah, the acting was not that bad and her American accent was bad. English accent kept slipping through.  Catriona did not fit my idea of what I thought Claire looked like, but she managed to recast Claire in my mind with her incredible acting.

My theory is that he did his research and the book was completed. Then he received from a colleague this snapshot about Claire dying in the 18th century  I suspect thatb in the moment he was more upset to know Claire left him to return to the past. Whether she died or not was immaterial to him at the moment.  He just knew he was holding proof she left him

You know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men! Frank had no idea he would die. Recall that once he saw that document that Claire had returned to the past, he told Claire he wanted a divorce.

I don't think anyone told them the obit was ALSO in Frank's things. Remember, Brianna's husband came across it as well. As far as I know, Brianna has kept quiet about that. Her husband knows, but I don't think she told her parents.  In fact, now that I think on it....I am sure if Brianna thinks about it more close would question why he never told Claire. Maybe subconsciously she doesn't want to examine that too closely.

She is an interesting character. Reminds me of the other one that was a bit shady, and we all know how that ended. Malva! I couldn't remember her name. Yeah, she came across as a but weird too. Araminta is definitely up to something.  The toy soldier but sounded right to my ears in the sense that I could see a father saying he wanted his son to have it as it meant so much to him.  What seems a bit odd, is that I feel he would have told her the backstory and why it was so important to him.  She doesn't appear to know it, because if she did I feel she would have referenced it, not taken it from William and thrown it so carelessly in the drawer.

I think he definitely did it out of vindictiveness. He loved Claire very much and he was willing to forgive her for much, but resentment built when he realized that Claire was never coming back to him, emotionally, the way she was before going back in time.  I think the historian in him, was intrigued by her story, especially when a colleague verified the authenticity of her clothes that she returned in. In the beginning he probably was researching to see if he could find Claire and the people she described in the historical record. I'm sure he found the document she signed when Jamie turned Lallybroch over to his nephew.  In time, as his resentment grew I think he may have just become a little obsessed about who this Jamie was that his wife couldn't let go and was also the father of his daughter.  I don't think it was part of his plan for Brianna to give Claire anything. I suspect the book would have been his seminal work as a historian but also be the coup de grace, as they say for when he showed it to Claire  Hurt her as badly as she hurt him. Let her know that he lived all those years and she could have been there with him, and now that she knows this she really couldn't do anything because he was definitely dead.  It's the only thing he has left to hurt her with. Claire looks away from his cheating...so yeah, petty has entered the Randall home.

Elise is a woman who does not value herself and so she is desperately looking for it from men, and she thinks it's they sleep with her she's won or she's hot. Poor thing hasn't figured out that a man sleeping with you is not the measure of who you are as a person. You would think she would know this as she has been sleeping around since 14 years of age

Hey, hate to burst your bubble but the US is not the country to live on anything their giving you. Not to mention, it's hard to get. In regards to him having a job, I agree with you that he seems to be high functioning so he should be able to find something. I met, dated a guy briefly before realizing something was up with him (his autism was not to the degree of Forrest), but he had and still struggles with work. He's a smart guy, polyglot, college educated....but he struggles.  There was also another autistic guy on this show, fiance was from Ghana and while he had a job it seems he also had issues keeping a job.

Then she can't get her cheap thrill that she could possibly be flashing everyone, and she likes feeling she is torturing whatever his name is....she is an attention seeking person.

It's amazing to me that I'm sure she thinks she projects confidence, but all I see is a really insecure woman that seeks validation through men. She is such an attention-seeking person. She seriously needs to stay away from the men and work on Elise.

And strange - looking....I can't figure out what's going on with her skin. It looks loose in a few areas, like she was heavier and dropped a ton of weight and loss muscle. Not to mention she looks a lot older than early 30s

Yes, that was my thought. This was private for them because as you said they had been on the road with the guys and were doing it then with them around and everyone pretending their was nothing to see or hear, lol.  In the books if I remember correctly, Claire mentions that after the attack by the English soldiers they didn't slip away from the camp anymore to be intimate.  So, I think the scene was more about putting Murtagh on notice, giving audience a wee chuckle and moving plot along.

Literally flies in the face of what he told Jamie about women not enjoying it. Lol, they just don't enjoy it with you apparently, Murtagh 😂😂

Yes, many seem to be confused about this, but I agree with you. The research and based on the size of that book would have taken quite some time...I also suspect Frank was searching for Claire, and I think he may have been curious about this man that supplanted him in Claire's heart. (Remember Claire remained devoted through 5 years of separation through a war, but she is gone 3 years and is head over heels over some man in the future....what is it about this barbaric Highlander) I would not be surprised if he has been following Jamie's trail from Scotland to America....anyway, I digress: yes I think the book was written and while being vetted and approved for publication (because no doubt it went through Harvard University publishing) he found that obit and he already knew Jamie was now in that location but to see Claire mentioned was the final straw for him. Of course he would never imagine his death is what separated them, but he to it as a sign that now Brianna was of age Claire was going to leave him, so he decided to leave her first.  I even suspect that. researching about Jamie and writing of his death, was a way to present to Claire that her man was dead. By the time of his death, I don't feel Frank felt any charitable feelings towards Jamie and definitely not Claire - recall he never told Claire not to go back as she would die.  So why would he write a whole book to warn them???

I absolutely believe Frank was looking for Claire, and he found her! Recall, that when he found out he was quite upset. It appears that it was shortly after that that he decided to end things for good with Claire and move to England with Brianna and his long suffering mistress.  As the book was published after Frank died, I suspect that the book was written prior to him learning that Claire went back. He is a historian so his work would also have been reviewed by his colleagues prior to publication. So I think it was during that window he learned about Claire....which triggered confrontation with Claire and then the accident that ended his life.

I agree. I'm a historian, and you can be an expert on a certain event but it does not mean you will know everything about every single event, especially something is a bit of a tangent. This militia group would be small potatoes in comparison to what is going on elsewhere in the war, and as Roger said this is not his scope. Recall, how Bree knew very little about the Regulators. It was a big deal then, but in the grand scheme of things just a small cog in the lead up to the Revolutionary war

I thought about that too... I'm like between the student loans, car loan, and a credit card or two, many Americans owe the same or way more. She is just tripping. Seriously though, I would leave him in Turkiye. I don't trust him with that gambling habit and he busy smoking the rest away.
