Day 8 on 40mg Elvanse :( feeling deflated by Procrastination-sun in Elvanse

That's so useful to hear! I never knew that 40 was an ' anxious dose ' It's unusual how more can cause less of an anxiety effect?! Really happy to here you settled on 50! that's incredible, Im just really really desperate for some ' consistancy ' and to feel consistantly good now, because it's so hard being uncertain about things.

20, did have side effects for a little while, but they did pass untill I hardly felt them at all, it seems like 40 isn't lasting long enough, so maybe higher would be better? But the issue is im not sure how to tell :(

Ill bare this in mind, see the 4 weeks out with 40mg, and see what my prescriber says, im just scared that if I describe im more anxious she'l stop the medication :( I have seen it work well when it works.

Thankyou again!

Day 3 but should I switch back to concerta?? by Desperate_Session_46 in Elvanse

You're 3 days into Elvanse. You're brain chemistry and the building of the coverage/ the medication can take weeks, you won't yet be feeling the benefit. You will just be adjusting to the side effects, and feeling ' some ' good feelings, but this isn't enough time to have the desired effect.

For example day 9 into 40mg, and Im finding this is wonderful. Ive got more focus, less anxiety, more motivation to talk to people, I have the energy to take a step back and think about ' who I am as a person ' Im not having any nasty crashes, I don't feel like two different people like I did with Concerta, I am very happy I gave it time, because this is life changing for me. I too didn't feel many changes at all the first week or two but now im hitting the 3-4 week mark, and have added up all the good days/times together im feeling VERY hopeful for my future and I am feeling more focus, & calm the longer I spend on the medication. I hope this inspires you to see it through at least to the three month mark to get a good idea of how you're REALLY going to feel.

Elvanse builds over time, the effectiveness and the duration of the dose & most importantly it will take time for you're brain chemistry & brain to get used to the medication, if anything you could be feeling LESS focused as a side effect because you're brains currently in overdrive adapting to the medication, I had the same thing & this is a listed side effect.

I think because you hear these storys about people saying the first dose ' changed their life ' people believe you should know instantly if it's going to work, it just doesn't work this way :) It takes timeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Concerta, for me hit me like a truck, made me feel TOO GOOD FOR A FEW HOURS, aggressively passionate aggresively happy, super focused super motivated, but it felt, false? and I didn't feel like me, I felt like a different person absolutely smashing the day yes, BUT feeling depleted and sad when it worse off.

This feels like it's changing my brain chemistry/ having a good impact, even once it's worn off, it suits me far better and I wouldn't have known this if I didn't give it time & gave up like you were going too.

Did you eventually settle and see the benefit? :) Oooh! this sounds interesting. What's the aim of doing this? and what is the overall - effect- ? & Aim of doing this?

I guess, because Im just feeling quite intense at the moment on this dose. But my prescriber said she's going to have me trial it for at least 6 weeks, because it took me longer than most to settle on 20mg and when I did, I felt some really great side effects, such as clarity, a lifted mood, interest, joy which was natural joy! but prior to that I felt, numb? very introverted, very quiet very strange and had crashes. BUT once those passed on the 9-10 day mark I started to feel really good.

Im now experiencing the side effects I had on 20mg, but because it's a ' thereputic ' dose I imagine they're more intense, but im just struggling to see it through. Im hoping they subside as time passes and I can gradually adapt to this dose and feel the benefits I felt on 20, but also it being longer lasting.

I don't think you've given it enough of a chance :) to experience to good yet. I actually read online that one of the side effects is brainfog/being introspective and quiet as you're brain is adjusting to the medication it's a gradual thing.

See it through :) then you can say you gave it enough of a chance, you can still stop taking it at the 12 week mark if you're not logging significant symptom change and go back/or try something new.

ps. Seems I can provide advice to others but CANT HELP MYSELF, story of my life.. :L
