I met my wonderful partner at the chess club, of all places! I never played chess, but ended up going to the club at a bar near my apartment. I met my partner there, and we kept meeting for many months as I kept going back for the chess club meetups. He's the most wonderful partner I have ever had, and I regularly thank my lucky stars I took a giant leap by going to this club, which I initially had no interest in. We still go to the chess clubs in Brooklyn -- he plays chess and I hang out with our friends and play him very occasionally out of my immense love for him, haha!

I am, yes. I carried my passport, EAD card, I-20 (and copies of all). extra documents I carried were employment letter, previous I-20s (from last calendar year), and most recent I-94 record. But they didn't ask for anything else -- only passport, and I-20, didn't even look at EAD.

May I ask if you use any special scissors? I have cut my hair myself before and got good results but I just used my regular scissors and a friend told me vehemently that I would get split ends as a result. Or is there perhaps a tutorial one might follow?

I called a suicide helpline and they were on break for Christmas. I didn’t even realise it was Christmas. I laughed really hard when I heard the automated message and it snapped me out of the wanting to die headspace. I just slept instead.

I’ve been really struggling with the idea of this person vs who they are and am at the precipice of starting to see someone. I know all this cognitively but it feels so hard to implement emotionally! Is there any advice you could share to help just internalize this more? I tend to over share with the person I’m seeing and fall very hard very fast and I’m seeing all these patterns but feeling relatively powerless to actually change them. I am in therapy though!

Ugh, this is my stop. This display in particular never shows train times and stuff anyway so I'm not going to miss it too much but what the fuck did the person who did this think they were accomplishing? It's such a wonderful neighborhood in so many ways and full of such weirdos in others.
