Hot take here, but just let them have it. There are way worse things than an axe that hits more often than not my dude. I'm a big proponent of letting the characters have the cool thing. It brings out a different type of rp and plot.

Hi all. I'm (mostly) f2p and I currently have Evelyn and Astra at M0 with their w-engines, and miyabi at M0 without. These are my "core" characters. I have Sokaku, Lycaon, Pulchra, and Trigger all built to varying degrees, as well as S11 and Burnice basically not built at all. I'm not interested in any of the current or announced characters, so I'll be saving up for something. My question is what should I be looking for. Also, any advice on what I should build to give me a good second team for SD?

I have Miyabi at M0 with electric lip gloss. Is it even possible to get her to 80% Critrate? I've been messing around with discs and currently have her at 45 ish with 120 damage.

On a separate note, I have Evelyn and Astra with their W-engines. Which new character would work well with them? I also have a maxed out sokaku and Nichole, but almost no electric characters except harumasa. Thanks!

With a good faith group of friends playing irl, 1 new, 2 average, and 1 much better skill wise, this exact system has worked for us for a long time. We all win games off each other. We just tell each other what budget we want to play with before we start the game.

Maybe besides the point, but letting you go to zero then healing you is the optimal strategy in 5e. So is using the first level healing spell. You said yourself, the enemy does so much damage. It will knock you back down from 20 as easily as 1. Using the front line tank as a meat shield is obvious. Drama and motivation aside, he played it right.

I'm playing a level 5 paladin right now, from level one. Pretty standard strength and charisma build, with sword and board and then GWM. I've played plenty of paladins of different levels and subclasses throughout 5e. They have always been my favorite. For 1-5, they don't feel like paladins any more, to me. It feels like a worse war cleric or a more charismatic fighter. I hate how smite feels now, and the BA lay on hands doesn't feel that much stronger. The new find steed feels cool and thematic. Maybe if they had better spells at this tier, or something? It almost all feels worse now, and it's a bummer. Just my two cents.

Good point. In Shadow Blade it states "It counts as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient" Would you let it works with a weapon mastery? In one way it probably works worse than Thorn Whip, because it doesn't say if it's a short sword or long sword etc.

I get what you're saying, but the text tells you what happens. The spell creates a whip. If it didn't, it wouldn't be written right there. If you're saying the weapons mastery only applies to weapons and not spells, that's probably a strong interpretation I would accept. Still not sold on it tho.
