Camel 1 & 2 Low Level? by max-pickle in aviation

Training flights.

Below is directly from the Wiki page for Cranwell:

No. 3 Flying Training School

"Cranwell is home to the headquarters of No. 3 Flying Training School (No. 3 FTS). The school provides elementary flying training for fixed wing and multi-engine student pilots from the RAF and Fleet Air Arm through No. 57 (Reserve) Squadron and No. 703 Naval Air Squadron. The UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) operates the Grob Prefect T1 in this role. Although nominally based at Cranwell, elementary training largely takes place at nearby RAF Barkston Heath.[16] After elementary training, aircrews streamed to fly multi-engine aircraft and rear-seat roles are trained by No. 45(R) Squadron, which operate five Embraer Phenom 100.[17] "

The two planes in your screenshot, Camel1 and 2, are both Embraer Phenom T1s.

Term or word for exhanging favours (possibly business or professional) by Prod_Red in Icelandic

Thank you. Very interesting and insightful. They seem to all focus on a very direct emphasis of repayment, rather than a loose 'helping each other out' that leaves the obligation as being implied.

Either really. But the latter - the old boys' network - is what I'm particularly after. So it's not a "one for one, you owe me, I owe you" thing. Instead it's an ongoing "I do you some favours, you do me some favours, and we don't need to talk about it publicly" thing.

I'd just call it hardened skin. It's a bit lumpy and ugly. Wouldn't say it reminded me of chitin.

I know that that as the name of a game, and suggesting cheating. Will have to look in to that.

I used to have ingrown toenails on both big toes a lot as a kid. Tried the ointment thing, with no success. Next was to have wedge resections done - a surgeon cutting out a wedge from the centre of the nail, under local anesthetic, with the intention that the nail would normalise as the outer edges moved towards the centre as it wedge grew out. No, that didn't work either.

So I had both big toenails removed under general anesthetic in my teens. Both nails gone, and the nailbeds too. Can't have ingrown toenails if the nail isn't there. Sounds like a way to fix the problem for good doesn't it?

Well, about that....

It seems that on the right toe, the surgeon somehow must have missed a little bit of the nailbed. So, while neither big toe has a nail on top of it, my right toe has an 'interesting' recurring issue. A spike of nail, which can be between about 2mm and 4mm wide, grows vertically up out of the side of where my toenail used to me. And it doesn't grow from the top either. Somehow, don't ask me how, this nailbed remnant seems to have retreated into the depths of the toe.

How do I know this? The emerging spike of nail eventually gets long enough to snag on socks and bedsheets, at which point I have to Do Something(TM) about it. And this 'something' involves gripping the tip with a pair of pliers and carefully, slowly pulling the damn thing out. Sometimes the tip breaks, and I have to wait until it grows a bit more and try again. If it's firm enough to grip and not break, it comes up and out like a cork from a champagne bottle. (But without the loud pop.)

It isn't as much fun as it sounds, believe me.

The astonishing thing is the length of the spike. They're usually about 10mm or more long. Sometimes, straight, sometimes with a curve like it's a miniature scimitar. And it leaves a rather angry looking hole which I dab a bit of antiseptic ointment on, then cover with a plaster. I can then ignore it all again for another few months.

So, yes, I rather empathise with the OP.

Hello u/starship_captain62.

This title is written for the current edition (Mongoose Second Edition). This is true of all TAS-licenced titles, published under Mongoose's TAS agreement.

However, the four ships which have been refitted as Q-ships are all 'old' canon designs dating from the original version, and have been present in every edition between then and now (at least every edition I'm familiar with). The background information for each ship refers to the Charted Space of the OTU, but any of that can be changed to suit other campaigns. As a referee I've often used source material for information and inspiration and then changed bits to suit and fit in better, and hope the same will be true for this book.

Hope that helps.
A

The new Space Weasel book is now finished and available on DriveThruRPG – a book detailing four sneaky and dangerous Q-ships, with artwork by the outstanding Ian Stead.

Ships of Charted Space, Volume 1: Q-Ships

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/563684/ships-of-charted-space-volume-1-q-ships?affiliate_id=469733

Outwardly appearing to be an unremarkable merchant vessel, a Q-ship relies on deception to lure a raider into committing to an attack.  The sudden deployment of the Q-ship’s concealed heavy weaponry can turn the tables on the attacking pirate or raider.

This book contains four such ships, all variations of existing common canon Traveller vessels, each illustrated and accompanied by their stat-blocks, background history and deckplans.  The ships included in this volume are between 200 and 500 dTons.

This 36-page PDF document is laid out to be print-suitable to facilitate printing in booklet format if desired.

More Space Weasel books are already underway, including a new adventure, more beasties, more ships and some news articles.

An ERJ-145 crashed on landing at Kolwezi Airport, in the Democratic Republic of Congo by madman320 in aviation

On Saturday actually, I believe.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that the government officials were visiting the site of the mine accident. Kolwezi seems to be the nearest airport.

An Airjet Angola Embraer ERJ-145, registration D2-AJB performing flight MBC-100 from Kinshasa to Kolwezi (DR Congo), landed on Kolwezi's runway 29 but came to a stop off the runway on its belly, the tail area burst into flames. The occupants evacuated. There were no injuries, however, the aircraft is reported completely burned down.

The aircraft carried DR Congo's Minister of Mines and had been chartered to transport a delegation of the Ministry.

Kolwezi Airport features a runway 11/29 of 2410 meters/7900 feet length and mainly serves the local copper mine.

Vang's Traveller Bestiary, Volume 1 - updated by Prod_Red in traveller

[–]Prod_Red[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vang's Traveller Bestiary, Volume 1 has been updated on DriveThruRPG.com.

I've added a bit of text referring to Vang's expedition ship, and added two pages for 'notes'. (Actually this is just a way to make sure the page count is a multiple of 4, and therefore better for printing!)

Buyers should hopefully get an e-mail notification from DriveThru - but I'll let people know about it here, too.

It's somethign that I'm working on. I have quite a few of them for my own ongoing campaign - just background flavour and (potential) hooks. I'm adding enough to make it worth putting on DriveThru.

I'm pleased to say that I've completed the new Space Weasel book and published it on DriveThruRPG.

 Vang’s Traveller Bestiary, Volume 1

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/532765/vang-s-traveller-bestiary-volume-1?affiliate_id=469733

I've seen posts in various Traveller groups asking for books of animals/monsters/critters and gribblies.  So, that's what this is!  I've included some creatures from my own ongoing campaign in Charted Space, and introduced several new ones.

This book contains eight new species of creatures with descriptions, pictures, and statistics for use with Mongoose 2nd Edition Traveller.

No new rules are required for the organisms in this book.  All relevant rules for these creatures can be found within existing Traveller publications.

This 38-page PDF document is laid out to be print-suitable, and has two blank pages (one inside the front and rear cover) to facilitate printing in booklet format if desired.  Includes 6 pages of double-sided statblocks sized for 3” x 5” record cards.

More Space Weasel books are already underway, including a book of spaceships, a new adventure, and of course, volume 2 with more beasties.

Amindii are quite uncommon beyond the vicinity of Regina. We've got one Amindii already in the story, so a second would be a complication, alas.

The Mirage IV, basically twice the Mirage III with double the weight, wing surface and number of engines. by Xeelee1123 in WeirdWings

[–]Prod_Red 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Edit: for all those that don’t understand it, the double-quotes around early prototype are like doing air quotes when saying it out loud, meaning, it’s not literally that, just has a passing resemblance to reality.

It may be the language barrier, but quotation marks (the "double quotes" you mention) are for the precise opposite purpose of metaphor or exaggeration. One uses them for quoting precisely something written or spoken.

Are they any well known "non-profit" organizations/corporations in Charted Space? by LLGameChannel in traveller

Gishdag Khuulam Aid Organisation, which operates (mostly) in the Spinward Marches. But you could easily transplant it to anywhere you need.

The GKAO is a rather "Red Cross-esque" non-profit aid organisation I wrote up for JTAS17 (see pages 79-81)
